Muskogee is a city in Holt County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 9,724 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. The Muskogee Industrial Park occupies most of the north side of town and provides employment for 45% of the workforce in Muskogee. The town was founded in 1881 by James Dickson and named after General George Armstrong Custer's village in Creek Nation on the west bank of the Arkansas River. In 1920, anger over transportation policies developed into a full-blown revolution against white settlers near Muskogee when black residents formed their own militia to resist white encroachment into their communities. From then until 1970s, African Americans made up less than 10% of the population but accounted for nearly 60% of arrests and convictions for crimes related to drug trafficking or domestic violence inside Tulsa urban limits – including rapes and murders committed by whites who were unaware their victims were black people. Many African Americans also worked as manual laborers or salesmen within Tulsa’s inner-city neighborhoods where they were largely unrepresented politically or economically; this engagement with wider society increased awareness among many African American leaders about their cultural power dynamics within society as well as how they could use that power to improve conditions for all racially diverse groups within Tulsa community

Muskogee, Oklahoma is a small town located in Muskogee County in the Great Plains of Oklahoma. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census and it is the county's largest city. The first permanent settlement in present-day Muskogee County was made by the Creek Indians in 1824. The town of Muskogee was founded on April 15, 1867 by General George Armstrong Custer during his western cavalry campaign against the Kiowa and Apache tribes. Custer's forces were moving through the area when they encountered a force of Sioux Indians led by Chief Little Bighorn. A bloody battle ensued, resulting in over 60 Indian deaths and several hundred horses being killed or captured. Afterward, many settlers migrated to Muskogee from various parts of Indian Territory to escape the savage behavior of these Native American groups. In 1886, Texas oilman John Wesley Hardin established what became Hardin Oil Company near present-day Muskogee. In 1901, he donated land for a public school system which would serve as an important cultural center for the surrounding rural community. By 1907, hardrock mining had become Soapstone Mining Company's primary focus and production began at what is now known as Western Hills Mine; however, this industry ended soon after because of advances in other extraction methods. As oil production increased throughout America during World War II (1939-1945), more people moved into towns such as Muskogee to fill wartime jobs; however, most residents left once hostilities ceased. However, some businesses did stay open until early 1948 due to new regulations that limited mining operations on federal lands within reach of populated areas. In 1949-1950 Hurricane Agnes caused extensive damage to buildings and infrastructure throughout much ofOklahoma; however few citizens lost their lives due to flooding or lootersilsting which occurred following widespread power outages statewide. Despite this inconvenience, many people continued to live and work in towns such as Muskogee until well into 1951 when statehood finally granted Oklahoma its own government - effective January 1st that year
The Muskogee Indian Nation was established in 1821 by the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit. The tribe numbered over 2,500 people at its peak in the 1800s. The Muskogee were forced to cede their lands to new European settlers in the late 1800s and early 1900s. In 1911, after years of land disputes, the Muskogee nation formally ceded all their remaining territory east of Oklahoma City to the United States government.
