Gun targets have been a part of the Moore, Oklahoma community for many years. There are two types of gun targets that are commonly used in shooting competitions: skeet and clay pigeons. skeet is a type of bird that can be hunted with shotguns, while clay pigeons are any LIVE game birds that can be shot at with a rifle or shotgun. The target practice has been an important part of the community since before there were ever guns in Moore! One of the first buildings in Moore that housed gun targets was the old Methodist Church on Second Street. The church once had a target range inside their building, which is now used as storage. This was followed by another location on Third Street near Main Avenue. Both ranges were used by members of the local Rifle Club to shoot at live birds during their regular meets and club activities! The first indoor gun range inMoorewas opened around 1907 by Mr. John D’Angelo, who ran it out of his home on Elm Street. It was later moved to its current location on North 15th Avenue where it remains today! In 1911, Mayor George Neely allowed citizens to buy and use firearms within city limits without having to go through government regulation or license requirements. As a result, the Gun Club began renting space from various businesses in downtownMooreand started using this new facility for target practice! After World War I ended, many men returned home from service and needed to find ways to spend their weekends away from their families so they could learn how to fire weapons effectively and safely! That’s when gun target Practice became an important way for these men to relax and de-stress after long days spent fighting in combat! Eventually, other businesses across town began leasing spaces from the City Hall Annex where they would rent out Target Practice sessions every Friday night until about 1938 when prohibition put an end to such public activity. However, some members continued practicing at various locations throughout downtownMooreuntil finally closing down completely around 1945 due to lack of interest or funding

Moore, Oklahoma is a town in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 2,821 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Moore is located on the Arkansas River and is bordered by Haskell County to the south and east, Ward County to the north, andata County to the west. The city proper covers only 1/4 of its original territory; it now includes portions of Ward and Atoka Counties as well as Haskell and Haskell Township within Stephens County. The current site of Moore was first occupied by two villages: Wichita City (now known as Independence) in what is now Ward County and Lawton in what is now Atoka County. In 1881, General James A. Garfield Indian Agency was established atpresent-day Moore along with three other agencies: Delaware Indian Agency east of present-day Tulsa, Fort Gibson Agency on the Arkansas River near present-day Jenks, and Fort Reno agency southwest of Jenks. In 1889 Congress passed an act providing for Cherokee Nation citizenship for all Choctaw people living east of the Mississippi River under Creek Treaty terms; this act also designated Cherokee Nation land lying between those treaty boundaries and parts of Stephens and Osage counties within Kansas Territory as Choctaw Nation land east of that boundary. In 1907 a report prepared by Congressman George Wickersham entitled "Report on Indian Affairs" recommended that schools be established among Choctaw people living east of US -Mexico border who were not citizens or fully assimilated into American society; this recommendation led to passage in 1909 of An Act To Establish Education Among Native Americans Living East Of The Missouri And Texas Rivers As Required By The Report Of The Investigations Subcommittee On Indian Affairs Which Was Completed Under This Bill [Public Law 111–383]. That same year a group including Jens Jensen (1908–2006), Bob Weaveland (1914–2006), Arnie Olson (1920–2006), Donny Sheehy (1928–2009) – all from Muskogee – formed Friends Committee For Community Improvement which began work on developing downtownMoore alongside Muskogee Boulevard today’s Third Street NE & NW corner where most business activity occurs today outside downtownMoore walls around downtownMoore Today’s Courthouse Square location about one mile southeast from original core downtownMoorenorthwest corner 3rd Street NE & NW corner
