WLCEC continued to produce large quantities of cottonseed until 1941 when it ceased operations due to World War II regulations that prohibited exports of war materials. The town also has a significant role in Republican Party history. In 1924, Lamar Jeter became an official delegate from Moore to the Republican National Convention in Chicago; he would later become Governor of Oklahoma. In 1928, Roy Barnes ran for Congress as a Republican but lost to Democrat John Evans by 1,500 votes out of more than 9 million cast in that year's election. Barnes would later run for governor again but would only receive tsp 20% of the vote against incumbent Don Clements' 80%.
