The first magazine published was the Council Guns & Ammo Weekly which was started by a group of businessmen and farmers who were interested in keeping their firearms safe and accessible. They wanted to help promote responsible firearm ownership and prevent crime. This weekly magazine served as a rallying cry for gun owners throughout the Midwest City area. The Gun Owners of America (GOA) was founded in 1934 in order to help protect Second Amendment rights throughout the United States. Midwest City, Oklahoma is a town in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Midwest City was first settled by the Wichita people, who called it "Wichita River." In 1836, Major John Wagoner founded what became Tulsa on the east bank of the Arkansas River. The town grew slowly until 1881, when oil discoveries led to an increase in business and population. A new courthouse and jail were built in downtown during that time. In 1907, a group of businessmen formed the Mid-America Oil Company to drill for oil near Tulsa's eastern edge. This led to rapid growth for Midwest City and other towns around Tulsa while bringing wealth and jobs to residents. The company soon leased land adjacent to present-day Union Station for its various operations including refineries, storage tanks, hotels and other businesses. In 1927, Tapiola Lumber & Storage Company was established in Midwest City as one of many lumber companies organized during the Great Depression era under President Franklin D Roosevelt's New Deal program. tapiola means "tree" or "forest" in Finnish and refers to post-holocaust forest products such as lumber which had been stockpiled by commercial interests following World War II damage caused by bombing raids targeting German cities like Dresden and Hamburg. The company enjoyed continued success into the 1960s with production ranging from 100 truckloads per day (TPD) of saw logs down to 3 TPD for high quality plywood production; however due to environmental considerations logging ceased altogether beginning in 1971 . By 1978 tapiola had developed into a major mill complex ranking second only to Cement Corporation's plant at Shreveport Louisiana . However overcapacity caused prices for woodlands throughout northeast North America collapsed starting in late 1984 leaving mills with little choice but bankruptcy Today much of what once constituted Tapiola Lumber & Storage Company (the predecessor of Humble Industries Incorporated) still remains: most notably Humble Industries' ownership stake (~80%) in current sister company Logistics Partners LLC which has managed bar stocks since 2006; also remaining are two large oldtimers associated mostly with marketing/promotion efforts: Keystone Knee & Sawmill Products Co., nowKOINIKE , began operations 1963 as an offshoot from Keystone Coal Mines Ltd., later Keystone Coal Mining Co.; both operate circa 1 million cubic feet per hour (MCHP) capacity primarilyLOGLINE ) - transporting heavy sawlogs upriver past Keystone State Dam just north of downtown OKC on their own rails about once every ten minutes!
