In 1921, when World War I ended and America entered World War II, The Wichita News-Review relocated its operations to Omaha due to high demand for its news coverage of military events in central Oklahoma. After the war ended, The Wichita News-Review returned to Tulsa but ceased publication in 1951 after nearly 150 years of operation. Today, remnants of both original newspapers still remain from during Tulsa’s heyday as well as other local businesses which have continued printing local papers throughout the city’s recent struggles including bankruptcy and closure multiple times over recent decades (most notably during Downtown Decline).
