In Miami, Oklahoma, the Gun Range Club has been in business since 1903. The range was originally an open-air shooting gallery with targets made of wood and wire. In 1946, the club moved to a new building on Northwest First Street in Miami. The club continues to operate out of this location today. The Gun Range Club has a variety of target rifles and pistols available for rent or purchase. This range also offers private parties and group shoots for groups of up to 10 people. Visitors can also attend NRA meetings that are held at the gun range during other months as well. In Miami, the first gun target was established in 1907. The city's first shooting range was opened in 1911 and it served as a training ground for the Miami-Dade County Police Department. In 1916, the Miami Herald began publishing an annual "Gun Target" competition, which is still held today. The first realignment of American gun fire occurred on January 6, 1918 when riflemen from two units of World War I veteran troops fired at a replica rifle target situated on Biscayne Bay in downtown Miami. Winners were announced by Capt. John J. McCloskey of the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment and Maj. Edwin Ayer of Company E, 7th Infantry Regiment.
Miami is a city in the US state of Oklahoma. It is the county seat of Miami County and has a population of 100,813 as of the 2010 census. The metropolitan area had a population of 297,069 as of December 2014. Miami is located on the Arkansas River, about 25 miles east-northeast of Tulsa, and about 40 miles south-southwest of Norman. The site where Miami now stands was first inhabited by the Osage Native American tribe. In 1819, after Mexico awarded Texas to America through General Antonio López de Santa Anna, Colonel James K. Polk agreed to sell Miami to Spain for $5 million in 1828. The Spanish built churches and other buildings in what is now known as downtown Miami from 1830 to 1830; however, they never developed it into an urban center like that which exists today because they lacked transportation options and resources for such an undertaking. When Americans took over Florida during Mexican War (1846–48), they also claimed Miami for America and began building roads, bridges and homes there as part of their effort to expand their territory inlandward following the war's conclusion. However, this claim was quickly disputed by Spain who thought that its citizens had rightfully belonged in Mexico rather than being forced southward into America! In 1859, when US President James Buchanan decided not to pursue annexation of Texas led by then Vice President Franklin Pierce due to growing pressure from southern slave owners – one reason being Pierce's support for electioneer Andrew Johnson – Buchanan ordered Major General George Pickett’s brigade to march on Tampa Bayou towards Spanishtown (now Downtown) in order “to open up all possibilities for compacting with Cuba” should annexation be successful but were Instead met with strong resistance which resulted in Pickett withdrawing his force only after suffering serious casualties including one dead officer – starting what would become known as "The Battle Of Tampa". This event started what would become known as "The Richardson Era" for both political parties within America thanks largely to GeneralPickett himself who would go on later serve under both Presidents Ulysses S Grant & Woodrow Wilson! Following military successes against Seminole Indians at Fort Brooke (near present day Little Rock) in 1861-1862 along with American occupation efforts throughout Cuba resulting in Cuban independence from Spain (1868), Spanish authorities began looking Westwards towards new land sources potential sites for development - specifically Indian Territory lying between Louisiana &Oklahoma Territory comprising much of today's Tulsa County - so when surveying agents returned home with reports that Trinity River ran east-west near modern day Miami they deemed it worth exploring further! So on July 12th 1870 Commodore John Stroud sailed down river opposite Havana Harbor bound for Muskogee [present day Tulsa] disembarking his commandos at Fort Walton Beach before disembarking his own troops at nearby Ponce de Leon Beach having already surveyed most area westward including present day Sanford Beach!! Upon reaching Muskogee he ordered Captain David Dudley Wofford ashore with instructions TO CONDUCT A RANDOM TOUR OF THE AREA IN ORDER TO DETERMINE IF THERE WAS ANY INTERESTED IN SETTING UP A FARM OR NOT FOR AMERICAN INDIANES ONLY AFTER HE RETURNED HOME WITH INFORMATION THAT THERE WAS NO INTEREST IN SETTING UP A FARM BUT SOME GREATLY WANTED TOWARDS ESTABLISHING AN AMERICAN GOVERNMENT IN THIS AREA DUE TO THE VALUE OF LAND AND THE PRESENCE OF MANY GOOD HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL EMBRACEMENTS! This Ordinance setting up government came about due mainly because no one wanted private landowner[s] taking advantage our [the Creek Nation], wanting instead access to water power & minerals neededfor industrialization while also recognizing our right2 self2defense thru treaty signings... Miami was founded in 1907 by Nicholas "Nick" Marino and his father, Salvatore Marino. Miami was originally a small community located on the Sawtooth River in eastern Oklahoma, near the present day town of Claremore. In 1916, Miami developed into a city with a population of 2,500 residents. The city's first mayor was Salvatore Marino. The city's second Mayor, Frank J. Doherty Sr., served from 1951 to 1959 and again from 1967 to 1971. From 1975 to 1979, Miami had its third Mayor, John Drennan who unsuccessfully ran for office against then-Governor George Witter. In 1907, Miami was named after a small town in Oklahoma. In 1949, the Miami city limits were extended to include part of Tulsa County and in 1959, Tulsa County became a full county within Miami.
