The city became known as “the BB capital of the world” for its production of pistols and rifles used in war. After the war ended, many companies left Miami but Remington-Browning Corporation still remained strong. The post-war years were difficult for many Oklahomans as they struggled economically with new technologies like television (which had just been invented) changing how people lived and worked. However despite these challenges, various businesses continued to thrive through the early 1960s thanks to pioneers like A&P who opened their stores here before moving them across state lines or out of business altogether. Meanwhile residents kept their traditions alive including popular nightlife such as live music at venues like Joe's Pub or The Kitchen where DJs spun records all night long into the morning hours - something which still takes place today! In 1968 things changed when then Mayor Manuel Diaz appointed Clyde Berryman Jr., brother-in-law of then Governor Phil Bredesen to head up economic development for "The City That Yes We Can" - an unprecedented move given that there was no mayor or government body designated with this responsibility at that time! Berryman led Miami through tough times during its early years including stints as Mayor Fenton Gasparini filled with communists/leftists (a common occurrence during those days) while concurrently creating job opportunities for locals while attracting national names like JBL Industries founder Lamar Hunt who set up his company here specifically because he saw potential business opportunities in this young community! However even though these hard times were coming along way for Miami we persevered thanks our resilient spirit coupled with some great leaders who continue to lead us down positive paths including current Mayor Carlos Gimenez who took office just over one year ago! With so much history behind it – from pioneering businessmen & women like Clyde Berryman Jr., Manuel Diaz & Phil Bredesen all the way up until our current mayors – it's no wonder that everyone loves living in “The City That Yes We Can’t Stop”!
