Mcalester, Oklahoma is a small town located in the southwest corner of the state of Oklahoma. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. The Mcalester area has been inhabited for over a thousand years and is now part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. The first Europeans to visit Mcalester were French traders who landed on the east side of the Little Arkansas River on July 6, 1795. They named their landing site "Château d'Iberville" after Sieur de Chateaubriand, an officer in the French army who had explored North America from Quebec in 1785-1789. The first settlers in what would become McAlester Township were Charles Goodyear and his brother Emory Goodyear on December 14, 1847. In 1848, John Fenton bought 10 acres of land east of irrigation ditch Number 2 west of present day US Highway 169 and built a cabin known as "Fenton's Grove". His children James Fenton (1850-1927) and Nellie Fenton (1854-1945) also settled here around this time. In 1881, Jno. Hodge purchased 200 acres northwest of present day US Highway 169 from Muhlenberg County for $2 per acre. This was one of several purchases by Hodge that helped make McAlester a thriving community during its early years. He soon developed water power to operate his sawmill which became one of McAlesters mainstay economic engines until World War II when it switched to petroleum production due to wartime shortages. Through hard work and thrifty spending habits, Hodge managed to maintain even structural balance in his business despite excessive cashouts that led him into financial difficulty; but he never lost sight or forgave himself for those missteps which ultimately doomed McAlesters once prosperous pastime - agriculture - during those heady days before nationwide mechanization under General Motors Corporation began reducing prices everywhere where hogs were raised near cities like Detroit while soybeans grew along Interstate 35 just outside Ft Worth Texas caused an unsustainable imbalance between hog production and demand that finally spelled doom for both businesses before they could even begin making money again; with farmers losing their jobs while city people gained access not only to high quality pork but also fresh fruits and vegetables unavailable earlier because transportation costs had soared ahead Of schedule thanks largely to Henry Ford’s development at Dearborn Automobiles

The History of Ammunition, by Lee Enfield In the early 1800s, pistols and rifles were the mainstay of infantry military forces around the world. This was because handguns were less powerful than rifles and could not be used in close combat situations. Therefore, soldiers needed to find other ways to kill their enemies. One way to do this was by using ammunition that was more powerful and accurate than what was available at the time. One such ammunition company was Winchester Ammunition Company. The company started out making small arms rounds, but soon began producing larger caliber rounds for pistols and rifles. In 1892, Winchester introduced its first large-game hunting round called the “Majestic”. The Majestic round had a muzzle velocity of 2,500 feet per second (600 meters per second). This made it one of the most powerful hunting rounds ever created. Winchester also developed other calibers for various firearms including .45 ACP (which is now known as 9mm), .50 BC (which is now known as 5mm), and .68 powder cartridges for artillery cannons. These new cartridges allowed soldiers to shoot much further away from their opponents with better accuracy than older ammo types. Additionally, these new cartridges allowed for greater damage potential against enemy troops due to their higher explosive power. Thus, Winchester Ammunition Company became one of the most successful ammunition companies on Earth during its time period.
Mcalester, Oklahoma is a city located in the Haskell County seat of McAlester. The city was founded on October 6, 1907 by Capt. John W. Mcalester and his family. The name of the city comes from General George Armstrong Custer's final battle at the Little Bighorn Battlefield near present day McAlester. After being vacated by the United States military during World War II, McAlesters population gradually began to increase until it reached its current size in 1960. The population growth has been due to both natural expansion of the city as well as an influx of immigrants who have chosen to live and work in McAlester since its founding. The major industry that operates in town is agriculture, which employs about 60% of the town's workforce. Other major economic sectors include manufacturing and services; both of which are located within a few miles of downtown McAlester. In addition to its agricultural base, McAlestera also has a TIBS center and several other businesses that serve the community including four churches and three educational institutions: McAlesters High School (which offers education up through college level), Mid-America Baptist University, and US Airways Training Center/Oklahoma State Technical College).
The first white settlers in the area were Hugh and Margaret McDermott who arrived in 1836. In 1840, George A. Custer fought at the Battle of Little Bighorn while stationed in Fort McIntosh. The battle is considered one of the largest military engagements in American history. After the battle, many soldiers and their families moved west to what is now Oklahoma Territory. For a time, it was part of Mexico before becoming an American state. On February 14, 1907, Oklahoma became a state when it was admitted to the United States as a result ofthe Treaty of Paris following World War I.
