In Lawton, Oklahoma, there have been mass shootings over the years. In fact, the city has had at least 10 shootings in 2017 alone. Yet, no one seems to be getting serious about shooter eye protection. It’s not that shooters don’t need it- in fact, most people who miss their targets do so because they are poorly equipped with eye protection. It’s that law enforcement and first responders aren’t equiped to provide it either. There are a few reasons for this discrepancy. One is money; many departments don’t want to spend the extra money on protective gear for officers vs civilians. Another reason is politics; many agencies operate under a “you-can-trust-us” mentality when it comes to firearms and eye protection. The perception is that if an officer doesn’t have proper protective gear, then they can be easily caught by someone who does (e.g., someone trying to rob them). The solution? The Lawton Shooting Protection League was organized in 1944 as the National Firearm Association's (FAA) first Ammunition Safety Committee. In 1948, NRA created the National Sporting Goods Manufacturers' Association to improve industry cooperation on ammunition safety. The National Rifle Association of America (NRA) became a partner member in 1951. On July 1, 1954, the Lawton Chamber of Commerce formed a subcommittee to study handgun safety. The subcommittee report recommended that all handguns be registered with state law enforcement agencies and that manufacturers provide owners with training on how to use their firearms safely. In 1959, NRA established the Institute for Pistol Rights to promote responsible gun ownership and protection. NRA also founded the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence in 1990 as a public education effort to reduce crime and death rates from guns.
Lawton is a small town in southeastern Oklahoma, United States. The population was 3,362 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Haskell County seat. The first settler in Lawton was James Ritchie in 1881. A post office called Lawton was established in 1886, and remained in operation until 1959. The community took its name from western Tulsa County, which at that time included all of Haskell County except for Lawton. In 1907, the firstedit local high school opened in Lawton; it closed operations in 1951. In 1957, the firstedit local college opened in Lawton; it remains open today as Haskell Community College District No. 1A. The original courthouse located on Main Street also served as the district's administrative headquarters until 1978 when an new courthouse was constructed on US-67/I-40 just east of town center. According to the 2000 census,[1] there were 2,827 people residing in Lawton when it relinquished its charter to become a city under OKC Ordinance No. 04-2002 on July 1, 2002;[2] however, this number has since grown to over 10K residents due to recent annexations by other cities within Oklahoma City metropolitan area (including Norman). This growth has come about largely due to two things: investment by downtown developers into adjacent neighborhoods including One Park Plaza and Boulevard Towers developments and Interstate 40 being developed into a comprehensive regional transportation corridor with multiple destinations available close at hand such as Downtown Oklahoma City (Downtown), McAlester (Oklahoma State Fairgrounds), Jenks (home of Tulsa World newspaper company) and Edmond (largest citywest of Tulsa) as well as several smaller towns surroundinglawton along I-40 including Osborneville (), Ardmore (), Winterset () and Shawnee ().[3][4][5] These attractions have attracted thousands of visitors each year generating more than $100 million worth of economic activity.[6][7][8] With so much going on nearby and so many jobs available,[9] LAWTON shouldered some serious infrastructure challenges during construction – most notably during renovation efforts for both current elementary schools ($15M+ project)[10][11], replacement of long deprecated water pipes throughout downtown ($30M+ project)[12], widening streets around central business district ($60M+ project)[13],[14]), expanding sidewalks throughout downtown proper onto Pryor Avenue from 6th Street southward ($50M+ project)[15]) but overall[] government officials feel confident that LAWTON can pull off yet another successful municipal bond issue resulting in even more rapid growth over time![]

The original sniper eyeglasses were created by attaching round lenses to frames that had been adapted from railroad bridge headers (see Figure 1). These eyeglasses allowed soldiers to see clearly through binoculars and provided valuable information about enemy positions which helped them fire accurately at their target(s). With advances in optics technology, however, it soon became clear that better designs were needed for hunting rifles such as those used by marksmen or sniper teams. In the early 1800s, shooters began wearing eye protection to reduce the risk of getting injured by gunfire. By the 1860s, safety goggles had become popular and were used more often.
Lawton is a small town in the US state of Oklahoma. It was founded in 1907 by Lillian Lawton, who named it for her father, Lyon S. Lawton. The town has since grown to over 20,000 residents and is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Today, Lawton remains an agricultural center with a population of around 10,000 people and is home to several businesses including a hospital and two schools. The town's history can be traced back to 1907, when Lillian Lawton came to the United States from England as a child. She worked as a cook on a steamboat before moving to nearby Muskogee in 1902. There she met her husband, Harry Aikenlawt; they would marry in 1904. The couple moved to Lawton in 1907 and started out farming hogs and cattle. They also began building homes; one was completed in 1909 and another was completed the following year. The Aikenslawts would remain here until their death in 1951. During World War I, Lawton served as an airfield supply depot for the US military; during World War II it became an auxiliary training station for the Army Air Corps; after the war it continued serving as an agricultural center with production of cotton, livestock, potatoes, eggs and other crops some 5 years until it closed its doors permanently due to drought conditions in 1949-1950%. Today that part of town which used to be called "the newtown" - now known as "the oldtown" - remains quite unchanged with its buildings from back when lawtons were all farmers living together on their land surrounded by cornfields today!
Lawton was founded in 1867 by Richard Lawton and his wife, Jane. The town grew quickly due to its location at the junction of two major wagon roads, the Santa Fe Trail and the Oregon Trail. In 1876, Lawton became the county seat of Coweta County. The courthouse was completed in 1880 and served as the interim county courthouse until a new structure was built in 1906. A new courthouse and jail were constructed in 1914. In 1907, Coweta County separated from Tulsa County to become its own independent unit. At that time, Lawton continued to serve as the county seat for Coweta County. In 1916, Lawton became a city under Oklahoma City's charter. The first mayor of Lawton was John Wickersham. On November 3, 1921, Mayor Wickersham signed an ordinance creating the present-day city of Lawton. In 1930, a tornado touched down near Lawton and destruction occurred throughout the community; however no lives were lost or injured as a result of this event
