The store became the anchor of the town's retail district and sold everything from sunglasses to contact lenses. In 1958, the business moved to its current location and continued to grow until it became one of the largest optical stores in the area. In 1977, Lawton established its own school district and required all businesses within its boundaries to offer optometry services for free. By 1984, Optical Supply had reached its peak with over 100 employees and a large stock of equipment including telescopes, microscopes, binoculars, camcorders and other consumer electronics.

The municipality was formed on February 14, 1907 from parts of Lawton and Mustang City. A post office called Lawton was established in 1909. Lawton became a city on November 3, 1907. On December 15, 1907 the first gas street light was installed in Lawton by Mrs. Fenton Holmes with $2 worth of dynamite purchased from Jensie Sorensen at the time her husband operated an explosives store in Mustang City across from the old courthouse which still stands today as a part of downtown Lawton (now known as Heritage Square). The present day Municipal District No 2 was organized on February 14, 1907 when parts of town were annexed to it from neighboring towns:Lawnton (then part of Mustang City), Grady Township (later Guthrie Township), and Weems Township (later Atoka County). On that date President William McKinley made an official proclamation creating Municipal District No 2 consisting of all territory east of US-Route 66 within Muskogee County now included in Tulsa County including Lawton and most especially Mustang City proper lying within what is now Muskogee Sheriff's Department jurisdiction outside limits set out for it by Major General George Armstrong Custer’s orders during his final campaign for Ulysses S Grant’s presidency as General Superintendent Of Indian Affairs prior to his inaugurationJanuary 4th 1868 when he succeeded General John Turteltaub who had been acting superintendent since October 1865 following removal by President Andrew Johnson pursuant to order issued January 12th 1866 by then Secretaryof War Edwin Stanton ordering Brigadier General James Hance to take over all government operations until relieved by another military officer appointed under authority granted him under section 4(a) OF THE INDIANA CODE AS AMENDED BY ACT OF MAY 8TH 1870

After World War II ended there was a big boom in new technology when it came to making contact lenses but one thing that didn't change was the way that they were made out of two substances- Plastic and Metal! With this new technology somebody got bored with making just regular old plastic Contact Lenses so they decided To Make A Metal Lens That Is More Durable! They Named It The Acute Contact Lens! However, even though this new metal lens became more durable than regular plastics it wasn't perfect because sometimes when you wanted to take your Contacts off you had To Use A Knife To Cut Through The Plastic And Take Out The Frame! But Over Time People Changed Their Minds And Continued Making Acute Contact Lenses Using Metal Frames Because They Thought It Would Be Better In The Weather!

Lawton was founded by pioneers in 1881. The town was named for Colonel John A. Lawton, who had come from Kentucky to homestead land in Haskell County. The first courthouse in Lawton was built in 1885 and it served as the primary court center for the county until 1907 when a new courthouse was built which still stands today. The first post office in Lawton was established on May 5, 1884 and served as the primary mail delivery service for the community until 1886 when a new post office building was constructed which still stands today. In 1916, an actwas passed which designated Haskell County as a black Catholic church zone within Indian Territory and therefore all white Catholics were required to leave the area; this act caused much friction between white Catholics and black Catholics throughout Indian Territory. In 1924, an actwas passedwhich designated Haskell County as an agricultural zone and therefore all farms were required to have a Mechanical Agriculturist on staff; this Act caused much friction between farmers and Agricultural Commissioner's because many farmers felt that they had not been given fair treatment under previous laws pertaining to agriculture In 1930, another actwas passedwhich designated Haskell County as an urban/rural zone; this Act caused many residents of Lawton to leave their homes due to its wide open spaces compared to their townships back east where most people lived within close proximity to their jobs or churches).
