In 1875, they started selling handguns called "Sizer's Pistol." By 1886, the Sizers had opened a second store on Fourth Street in Lawton which became known as "Sizer's Rifle & Pistol House." In 1895, Prentice Daniels opened another gun shop on Third Street called "Daniels' Arsenal." This was the first handgun dealership west of the Mississippi River. In 1897, John Aiken opened another gun store on FifthStreet which became known as"Aiken's Armory."" In 1912, Holley Arms Company began manufacturing pistols in Lawton. The company produced over 100 different models including revolvers (including singleaction revolvers), semiautomatic pistols (including Navy Beretta pepper spray pistols), shotguns and rifle ammunition. Holley Arms also manufactured case goods such as cases for cigars and cigarettes. Brigadier General Harry Coffman established an armory adjacent to Aiken's Armory in 1922 which served as headquarters for the Oklahoma National Guard during World War II. During this time period, holster manufacturers such as Colt Corporation produced holsters for military use that could be purchased by patriotism salesmen across the state ofOklahoma alone! The armory closed its doors following World War II but continued to serve as an administrative center for law enforcement agencies until it was demolished around 1984-1985 when it was replaced by new buildings located at 6thand 10th Streets NW near Interstate 35E

Lawton is a town in Oklahoman County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 9,819 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Oklahoman County. The name "Lawton" was given to the town by General John A. Lawler in 1881 as his gift to settlers in what is now the townsite. The first post office in Lawton was established in 1883. According to the 2000 census, Lawton has a total area of 34 square miles (88 km²), all of it land. As of the census[2] of 2000, there were 9,914 people, 3,664 households and 2,711 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,362.3 people per square mile (500.0/km²). There were 4,061 housing units at an average density of 521.5 per square mile (187.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97% White; 0% African American; 0% Native American; and 2% from two or more races.[2] Hispanic or Latinoof any race were 1%. There are three schools within Lawton: Booker T Washington Elementary School District No 111 which serves students from pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade and part time magnet school Tulsa Jr./Sr High School which offers 8th-12th grades; lawtonschool district also provides daycare for children up to age 6

Lawton, Oklahoma is a city in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. The name "Lawton" is derived from the Choctaw word "alwata", meaning "place of abundance." It had been a trading post on the Arkansas River since 1881. Lawton was founded by settlers in 1881 when they abandoned Fort Sill to move northward. The town was named after John W. Lawnton who served as Territorial Governor of Indian Territory from 1889 to 1897 and as Mayor of Guthrie from 1893 to 1895. The first store in Lawton opened on July 10, 1881, and it became the first general store in Oklahoma City. In 1886 the townspeople built a schoolhouse and court House which still stands today. In 1898 an oil well was drilled near Lawton and production began which led to many businesses being established around the town including law firms, banks, mills and restaurants. In 1907 construction began on what would become State Fairgrounds which would eventually be renamed Oklahoma State Fairgrounds after statehood in 1907 whenOklahoma became a state
Lawton was founded in 1871 by James H. Lawton and his wife, Nancy. The town was named for General Lew Wallace, the first United States military general to be decorated with the Medal of Honor. The town's population grew rapidly during the early years, thanks to the new railroad tracks that arrived in 1881. By 1907, Lawton had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1917, Lawton became a city and it has since grown even more: its current population is over 10,000 people.
