Jenks, Oklahoma is a small town located in the US state of Oklahoma. It was founded in 1907 by George Jenks and his wife, Anna. TheJenks Manufacturing Company manufactured gasoline meters and other electronic devices. The company went out of business in the early 1990s. In response to this history, Jenks has established itself as a center for high capacity kit manufacturing. Jenks, Oklahoma was settled in 1907 by the Jenks family. The town was named for Mrs. John Jenks, the daughter of a settler. The first post office in Jenks opened in 1909. In 1927, the population of Jenks reached 2,500 people and it became an incorporated municipality. In 1935, the first high school was built and in 1938, the first pool was constructed.
Jenks is located in the east-central part of Oklahoma, about seventy miles from the Arkansas state line. The population of Jenks was 2,612 at the 2000 census. It is an agricultural community with a primarily cotton and corn economy. The primary industry is agriculture, but there are a few small businesses and a few manufacturing companies. A major highway runs through Jenks, connecting it to other communities in eastern Oklahoma. Jenks was founded by Jens Christensen in 1887 as a small town on the edge of what is now Jenks County. In 1907, Christensen donated land to create what is now downtown Jenks. In 1916, the city became an incorporated municipality with a population of 3,000 people. Jenkins High School opened in 1922 and continues to serve today as one of the most prestigious public schools in OKLAHOMA COUNTY. The main industries in Jenks are agriculture (primarily cotton and corn), manufactures (mostly exported products such as cars and appliances), and service/trade (which includes construction). The area has been very productive for many years due to its location near several large water supplies: Muskogee Creek flows throughJenkins between it and Muskogee County; northern Cherokee Nation also contains valuable oil reserves; and nearby Shawnee National Forest contains many tall trees that can be used for lumber production

Jenks, Oklahoma is a small town in the state of Oklahoma located on the eastern edge of the Jenks County seat of Jenks. The population was 1,711 as of the 2010 census. The first humans to live in Jenks were Native Americans who migrated from northeastern Washington Territory around the time of European immigration and contact with Europeans. The first settler in Jenks was J.C. Cook who arrived in 1907. Cook's family constructed a log cabin on what is now State Highway 24 near present day Jenks Elementary School. The post office at Jenks was established on October 15, 1907, and served until it was discontinued on December 3, 1912. A new post office was erected at present day Jenkins Elementary School; it operated until it also ceased operations on December 3, 1912. In 1916 an oil well was drilled in Jenkins Township by Prentice Gentry & Company and production began that year which continued until 1937 when production stopped because of World War I hostilities halted drilling operations statewide due to anti-German sentiment then resurfacing during the war years; however continuing oil production resumed beginning in 1939 through 1941 when Production Manager Harry Hargrave increased drilling rates after becoming aware of potential gas reserves off his land nearby along Delaware Bayou south east of Tulsa,. The more recent discovery has led to increased production for over 50 years now makingJenkins one of the most productive counties within Tulsa County – responsible for up to 60% percent (of total) county economic output according to oklahoma comptroller’s report released annually! Asphalt manufacturing occurred briefly here during World War II but this industry closed down due to another scarcity of asphalt resources during that difficult time period; later bricklaying became an important economic sector taking hold starting around 1960 with several buildings built here including Stoneware Workshops located just north/northwest across Wanda Drive from current day Jenkins High School where huge bricks are still being made today! Jenkins has long been known as one of America’s “Brick Belt Towns” thanks primarily to its various industries including these two aforementioned sectors – plus textiles, footwear and other handicrafts produced here since before automobiles became popularized! Asphalt manufacture having truly disappeared from our town periphery only recently re-emerging as a major tenant at Oasis Hardwood Flooring where employees have been making large blocks ever since!
The Jenks community was founded in 1894 when the railroad arrived in the area. The town quickly grew, and by 1907 it had a population of over 1,000 people. The town was renamed Jenks after Major General James A. Jenks, commander of the First Cavalry Division during World War I. In 1943, Ku Klux Klan members burned down a local grocery store in Jenks. This event led to increased policing efforts by the local police department. In 1954,Jenkins County was created from part of Muskogee County and named for General James A. Jenkins, who fought in World War I and later served as Governor of Oklahoma.
