They built a log cabin on an bend in the Arkansas River and named it after their then-home state, Kansas. When World War I began, Henson enlisted his brother-in-law Jethro Haskell to help him farm some extra acreage so he could build a munitions plant nearby and become self-sufficient; but this idea never came to fruition because wartime shortages caused prices for munitions to skyrocket and production ceased altogether midway through 1915 due to government shutdowns during WWI as part of the New Deal program under President Woodrow Wilson's administration). Henson died without any children and his estate passed into trust for future generations until 1923 when it was sold by His wife Anna Burchfield Henson to Fenton Oil Company Vice President George Payson Forrester for $10 per share ($2 million today).
