Jenks is a city in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 4,052 at the 2010 census. Jenks is the county seat of Stephens County. It is located on the Arkansas River. The first permanent settler in Jenks was Hemanus Crain in 1881. A post office called Jenks was established in 1893, and remained in operation until 1907. The present name of the city was given to it by John Fenton Jenks, an oil prospector and local rancher who donated $100 to help finance its founding. In 1914, a small water supply system was built for Jenks by diverted natural gas from nearby Comanche Bayou. By 1920, however,Jenkins had developed only two businesses - a grocery store and a hotel - and no other industry worth noting had been established within its boundaries since arriving on the scene. In 1929-30 General Motors built a line of car dealerships around Jenks which brought about some new businesses but did little to revive the economy; by 1931 Jenkins reported just six residents living in downtown streetcars and one resident working as an errand boy for GM dealership across town (the last such job being filled by Homer Stinson in 1966). After World War II Jenkins experienced rapid growth due to its location as one of several towns along Interstate 40 servicing Tulsa metropolitan area (then known as "Oklahoma City"). This growth continued into the late 1960s when various large companies closed their doors or moved out of town during what became known as "The Great Job Boom". However, this period also saw crime rates increase significantly with violence becoming more common than ever before among young people drawn to easy access to good jobs and lax policing regulations; this led eventually to economic decline over time culminating in Jenkins' incorporation into Tulsa proper as part of that city's suburbanization process during the early 21st century.

Jenks is a city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma, located on the margin of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan and about 20 miles (32 km) southeast of Tulsa. In 1930s few people lived in Jenks due to lack of transportation or good schools for children while other towns on the outskirts thrived due to growth in industry around Tulsa including automobiles production plants financed by Standard Oil Company (now ExxonMobil). However by 1940 there were over 30 businesses operating out ofJenkins with 1125 residents employed out of these businesses earning median incomes over $25/hour during That decade only 2% percentof all Oklahomans lived below poverty line
Jenks was founded in 1907 by the United States Cavalry. The town was named for Major General George Jenkins, who fought in the Mexican-American War. As of 2010, Jenks had a population of 5,867.
