As Jenks, Oklahoma became a center of ammunition production in the early 1900s, its history was intertwined with that of other major ammunition producing regions. Jenks was founded in 1892 by J.D. Payne and is one of the oldest city sites in Oklahoma. Ammunition production began here in 1892 and continued until 1907, when the industry shifted to El Paso, TX. The town's prominence as an ammo producer continue throughout the 20th century; during World War II, it produced over 1 million rounds of ammunition. In 1959, Jenks transitioned from a municipal to a school district government and since then has been committed to education and Ammo Production Day each year on Saturday. The first commercially marketed rounds for handguns were created at Jenks at about this time (1892). This early development led to various firearms manufacturers importing rounds from America for their pistols which often featured high-quality projectile designs not found elsewhere on the market at that time (e.g., enamored with rifled barrels). At some point around 1899 or 1900, American Type A lead bullets became available for purchase through mail order from Europe (possibly via Russian sources), thus changing what would become known as "Jenks Bullets." These new projectiles were designed with a pointed tip so they could pierce armor more effectively than traditional lead projectiles and quickly enter into tissue; this also allowed them to be used in newly invented automatic firearms like revolvers chambered for 10mm Auto cartridge(s). In 1907, many companies shut down due to World War I complications; however, Jenks Ammo still produced over 1 million rounds of munitions until its closure in 1959. During World War II operations here increased significantly due to increased demand from both Allies and Axis powers alike; after the war the town transitioned into an almost post-industrial economy until economic recession hit in the late 1990s%. However recent community investment has provided much needed job opportunities for residents once again - currently ammo production is experiencing resurgence as new manufacturing plants are being erected within reach!

The original home for the Jenkens family was a log cabin on Butternut Creek outside of present-day Jenks. In 1906, John FentonJenkins built a two-story frame house on Main Street which still stands today. In 1905, Mrs. Jenkins gave birth to her only child John Aiken Jenkins Jr., who would later become an American politician and United States Senator fromOklahoma from 1907-1913 and 1934-1939. In 1912, Mr. Jenkins married Lula Clements (née Hardin) who also became an American politician and United States Senator fromOklahoma from 1907-1913 and 1934-1939. The first post office opened in 1903 in what is now called "Jenkins" after John FentonJenkins Sr.. It served as a postal junction point along Ulysses S Grant Boulevard between Guthrie and Muskogee counties until 1959 when it moved to its present location on Main Street within sight of current day Jenks Elementary School which opened its doors in 1922 under name "Old World" after then Mayor Missie Snyder Armstrong's parents' company that had supplied school supplies throughout Muskogee County since 1892-. John Aiken Jenkins Sr., father of future American political figures James Lincoln Jenkins III (2006–2018)and Kay Hagan Grimes (2008–present), was born February 2nd 1920 at 6:30am local time near Stillwater,. He attended grade school in Mount Pleasant before moving to Tulsa for high school where he met his future wife Lula Elizabeth Hardin (born October 15th 1918). They were married at First Baptist Church near ancient Mound City where he had been baptized just days earlier following his mothers death due to pneumonia four weeks prior; she had been attending church services with her infant son at home while her husband took care of their young daughter Kay Hardin Ransom (born February 3rd 1924). After graduating high school they both enrolled at University Of Tulsa but finished their undergraduate degrees early so they could enter politics together instead which led them to serve as members of the Tulsa City Council from 1951 through 1957 including years as mayor pro tempore 1954 thru 1956; during this time they also served as coauthors - along with fellow city councilmember Clyde Tolson -of groundbreaking legislation establishing Tulsa State University which then became Oral Roberts University! As first couple ever elected officials together they quickly gained national recognition for their workaholic dedication to public service despite having no children themselves! Mrs Jens & I decided we’d rather have grandchildren :-) In November 1957 Governor Orval Faubus ordered all schools be closed by Christmas because he felt inevitable racial integration would take place contrary to many educators' predictions . On December 5th President Dwight Eisenhower signed Executive Order 9981Which placed limits on cross dressers serving in military or government service ORVD employment etc... This effectively banned all integrated enrollments across education levels including public schools effective January 1st 1958...upon learning about this top secret executive order Ms Jens & I immediately packed our bags & left our beautiful home behind according to my well known directive “When your clock ticks away you must go” !! less than 12 hours later we arrived safely back at our old stomping ground Oklahomanhome finally!!
