Guymon's economy depends on its production capabilities as well as its relationship with fellow businesses within McAlester-area Agricultural Production District #1B which covers parts of Nichols County and Osage County east of Interstate 40 between Guthrie Boulevard and US 56/I-40 West; encompassing much of western Haskell County as well as eastern Noble County stretching south into Marshall County beyond I-40W border line. Guymon has a humid subtropical climate with hot summers and mild winters year round due to its proximity to Mexico City where climates can be drastically different than what exists here in Oklahoma City or even Wichita Falls! The summertime averages highs range from 95 degrees Fahrenheit during July through August to 50 degrees Fahrenheit during January through February; while winter temperatures average below freezing for most months throughout December through April! Today, Guymon features a thriving downtown area complete with several restaurants and shops; as well as two high schools (Guymon Central School District #1 & #2), four churches (Strayer United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, Cherokee Baptist Church & Good Shepherd LutheranChurch), three public libraries (Oklahoma City Public Library #1 & #2), one park (Guymon Municipal Park) and many small businesses providing essential services such as agriculture/animal husbandry/fishing or home repair/construction.

Guymon was founded in 1881 by the Ladd family. The town grew rapidly during the early years of the American West, and by 1907 it had a population of over 1,000 people. In 1911, Guymon became the county seat of Haskell County. The town continued to grow throughout the 20th century and reached its peak in 1951 when it had a population of 2,500 people. Today, Guymon is a small community with a population of just under 500 people.
