Guymon, Oklahoma is a small town located in the Tulsa metropolitan area. The population was 5,153 at the 2010 census. The town is named after Guymon Key, which is located in eastern Payne County and forms part of the Tulsa-Muskogee boundary. The first settler in Guymon was James Hargrave. He and his family arrived in 1868 from England and started a farm on what is now Newberry Road. From this farm, they raised corn and cattle until 1901 when they sold their land to the state for $8,000. In 1907, they donated land to the city of Tulsa for its library system and playgrounds. The city built two blocks of buildings on what is now Main Street between Clarendon Drive and First Avenue in 1913 as the Guymon Public Library while Mr. Hargrave supervised the construction from his home. In 1920, he donated another block of buildings to the city for its post office which opened on November 26th that year. In 1927, Mr. Hargrave donated land for a high school which opened on October 24th called The United States High School (now known as Pryor High School). It was originally designed as an all-girls school but boys were admitted starting in 1929 because there were no other schools available within a radius of 10 miles that would allow them to attend without being expelled from their homes or having their families poverty stricken enough to qualify for free public education through scholarships offered by local churches involved in social work programs. Classes began with only ninth through eleventh grade students until 1939 when it became an all-boys school due to financial constraints caused by World War II; however girls continued enrollment into high school until 1971 when classes ended at Pryor High School due to budget cutbacks following Roe v Wade legalized abortion across America making it illegal for any public entity (including schools) to provide instruction teaching abortions except under very limited circumstances where life of mother could be endangered or ifborn out of wedlock; however girls are still allowed tuition at some private universities throughout Oklahoma today though this prohibition remains largely unenforced given changing political landscape nationally as more women gain access to education beyond traditional bastions such as high schools.) On September 15th 1969 Hurricane Andrew completely destroyed much of downtown Tulsa leaving much property damage including many businesses along Clarendon Drive vacant while also destroying many homes leaving little opportunity or choice but flee town thereby creating one of history's most infamous refugees - hundreds upon hundreds of African Americans who chose not just leave behind everything they knew but also left behind everything they owned - cars, houses, clothes - anything - even their pets! One day early last year about two weeks before her death she went into one particular storeroom near the back corner and found an exquisite doll wearing a blue dress with white sleeves costing over $1,200! She couldn't believe her luck! After placing it back among her other dolls she closed her eyes forever knowing that someone will collector these beautiful pieces one day so we can see them again too! As mentioned earlier, Guymon has been named after Guymon Key located east Payne County within Tulsa metro area – once considered part thereof – giving rise thereto perhaps one reason why Phebe Parks Gamble moved there nearly fifty years ago fleeing oppressive housing conditions back east near Decatur Strayhorn’s grocery store/pantry business southbound off Clarendon Ave./Eighth St., Ensley Springs/Lincoln Co., Okla., although returning briefly several times thereafter each time less violently then initially occasioned by economic recession & returnees needed special permission (& sometimes received bribes) from local police chief), becoming established pattern followed b/w whites thru interracial clubs formed during previous decade w/ mutual aid purchasing food & shelter then departing night(ish) prior departure home—differently attire changed daily inside group residences whether sunny days OR cold winters nights—most removed clothing prior departure home rather than leave garments outdoors associated w/ rugs— numerous photos extant depicting various aspects & personalities originating doubtless chiefly via secret meetings held weekly outside residences conjointly convened by various club leaders whomever attended included elderly ladies residing therein—last meeting preceding departure occurred Nov 22ND 1977 shortly BEFORE tornado struck central oklahoma killing 83%+ female residents yea majority black

In 1926, the county was divided into two, and Guymon became part of Logan County East. By 1960, the population had increased to over 20,000 people, and the city was renamed Oklahoma City.
