As of the census of 2000, there were 3,451 people, 1,291 households, and 812 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,475.4 people per square mile (575.0/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 98% White; 0% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Guymon is a town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,852 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1907 and named for Guymon, Alberta, Canada. The town was platted on February 15, 1907 by W. H.] Auld and C. Davenport. The first post office at Guymon was established on March 3, 1907. The town had a population of only 10 people when it became an incorporated community on April 1, 1909. Guymon was originally located just east of present-day Muskogee City and lay within what is now the city limits of Tulsa before it annexed part of that city in 1912. In 1916 the Oklahoma State Legislature passed legislation providing for a school district in Muskogee County which would encompass all of present-day Guymon Township as well as much of Stillwater Township east thereof and north thereof; however this bill died in committee due to lack of support from some legislators who felt that such an addition to the county would not be beneficial to their constituents living east of Tulsa or west of Stillwater State Park (now known as Wildlife Area #1). In 1920 the state legislature did pass a bill providing for a school district in Muskogee County but no action took place until 1923 when Representative John Boren introduced House Bill No. 912 which proposed splitting off currentStillwater Township into two townships - East Stillwater Township (then called Clear Creek Township) and West Stillwater Township - with each township electing one representative to the Board Of Education; both bills were referred back to house speaker without passage prior to being placed on hold pending further testimony from Attorney General Harry Blackmun who also served on the Board at that time; later Kenney Jankowski substituted for Blackmun on the Board under new House Bill No: 1614 which also failed to become law due to lack of endorsement by Governor Orval Faubus; finally in 1926 Superintendent Amos Fenton approached Representative John Meeks with an offer to purchase land adjoining Clear Creek Township from Mr. Leland Dowell if Meeks could secure passage via his subcommittee’s resolution recognizing jurisdictional problems between Clear Creek and East Stillwater Townships resulting from consolidation efforts byDISTRICT OF OKLAHOMA under then newly created Mayor Curley Jordan; however despite recommendations from several members including Chairman Jankowski “the measure never made it out” alive before being put back onto track during floor debate following adjournment Proceedings On January 21st 1926 led by Speaker Pro Tem Royce Lewis whereupon Fenton offered $10 per acre ($240 per square mile) over 5 years payable semiweekly with interest added thereto if approved by Committee On Legislation prior thereto Finally On May 2nd 1928 Act No 213 effective June 1st 1928 granted full power unto THE AUTHORITY TO BUILD AND OPERATE A SCHOOL DISTRICT INCLUDING ALL THAT NOW PERTAINES TO EAST STILLWATER TOWNSHIP AND NORTH STILLWATER TOWNSHIP IN MUSKOGE COUNTY CONTAINING THE AREA BETWEEN CLEAR CREEK ROAD AND HWY 169 AS FAR AS SOUTHWEST END OF HWY 169 WHILE ALSO GRANTING FULL POWER TO THE AUTHORITY TO PROVIDE FOR SEPARATED STUDENTS IN EAST STILLWATER TOWNSHIP AND NORTH STILLWATER TOWNSHIP UNTIL 2020 . This act gave rise to today's portion of Guymon township lying within still water township northerly along US 69 bisection . Today's portion of GuyMONtownship lying within still water township northerly along US 69 bisection forms most recently part of OGDEN COUNTY just outside its borders while portions lies within KENTUCKY CITY Limits adjacent its eastern border
