In 1911, it was reported that a group of men had driven up into central Oklahoma from Wichita County armed with pistols and shotguns to rob a farmstead belonging to Mr. Andrew Jenssenbachs*. This incident led eventually to what is now known as “The Day Of The Gunclub Massacre” which occurred just days later near Guymon City limits.* Mr. Jenssenbachs had been unsuccessfully attemptingto sell his house & land adjacent thereto* Militia troops had been called out from neighboring towns* When they arrived on scene, they discovered 3 armed men inside his home & uponentry found 4 moreinside his barn* After an exchange of gunfire ensued(* resulting in 2 dead+, 1 critically injured), all but one man surrendered* One man barricaded himself insideMr Jenssenbachs home until reinforcements arrived * He ultimately surrenderd after learning he would be executed if he didn’t

Guymon is a small town in Freemont County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 3,752 at the 2000 census. The Guymon school district contains six schools: two elementary schools and four junior high schools. Guymon is located in the eastern part of Freemont County on the east side of the White River. It has a total area of , making it smallest municipality in the county. Its only industry is farming; other than that, the township was founded by settlers in 1883. The first post office in Guymon was established in 1884. In 1907, an oil well went dry and production ceased; however, this did not stop residents from drilling for oil throughout the remainder of 1908 and 1909. In 1912, a tornado destroyed a barn which served as a local courthouse; however, no people were injured or killed as a result of it. In 1915-16 there was an attempt to start manufacturing hogs here but it failed due to lack of demand for pork products from customers across Canada and Texas who were getting their supply from Mexico City instead. However, progress continued after that when local merchants started marketing produce here including apples and pumpkins which became very popular due to good soil quality and mild weather conditions (the coldest temperature ever recorded at that time). During World War II many businesses closed because many citizens enlisted or left for military service but most reopened after hostilities ended because there wasn't any need for them once war ended; some even reopened while they were still under occupation by Japan warheads falling on their towns during that time period so important infrastructure such as water systems were damaged or destroyed forever though few residents experienced those problems directly since most locals had already evacuated before then nevertheless some buildings remain standing today like two old frame churches dating back to 1914 (one withstood being hit by a wave during Hurricane Floyd in 1999) all these years later yet still maintain their original functions despite having been badly damage by wind gusts and rainstorms over time which unfortunately continues to be one of main challenges faced by residents today especially given present day economic straits caused largely by global warming

The community was platted in 1907 by John Guymon and named for his brother, James Guymon. The town developed around a post office and store which were both established in 1907. By 1916, the first school had been built and the first telephone line had been laid down. In 1923, Guymon became an incorporated municipality with a single library and two schools. In 1951, construction began on what would eventually become one of the largest petrochemical plants in North America when Pembroke Petroleum Corporation erected its facility there. The plant produced ethylene gas from oil shale until it was shut down by regulators in 2006 due to environmental concerns surrounding its production process. In 1957, the townspeople approved annexation of neighboring towns Bentonville and Owasso to form a new city known as Owasso-Guymon-Bentonville (OGB). However, this merger never came to fruition because Bentonville withdrew their incorporation motion after learning that OGB planned to build additional businesses within their boundaries without their consent. According to the 2010 census, Guymon has 1,521 residents; however this may be an overestimate because many people who live in rural areas do not register with census forms or update their information regularly. While most of the people living here are white Anglo-Saxons Protestant*, 94% identify as such according to2010 US Census data*; however* these numbers could change given current trends* towards minority representation on local government*. Additionally*, some residents of adjacent towns have also moved intoGuymon since 2007 due to job growth at Pembroke Petroleum Corporation*. As a result of all this moveinng around*,GuyMONO City has about 2% more inhabitants than it did before2007.*

In 1912, the town had a population of 350; however, this number decreased to 100 by 1916 due to World War I and other factors such as increased agricultural production in neighboring counties. The population reached its peak in 1950 with 1,500 people living in the community. However, during the late 1960s through early 1970s there was significant decline in population due to various reasons including the oil embargo and social unrest within the local community caused by changes brought about by new technology related to oil drilling and farming operations. This led to a decrease in residents until 1990 when it peaked again at 1,800 people before decreasing slightly over the next decade to 1,600 residents as of 2000 census data. In recent years there has been an increasing trend among Oklahomans towards moving away from rural communities into more urban areas which has led to some resident departures from Guymon along with continued declines in population since 2000 despite efforts made by local leaders to maintain or increase presence of life-formations within the community such as businesses and churches
