Enid, Oklahoma is a city in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. It was founded in 1907 by James E. Enid and his wife, Esther Belle Enid. The population was 27,553 at the 2010 census. The city is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Enid is located in northwestern Osage County on the eastern edge of the Wichita Mountains and about south-southeast of Tulsa City proper on US 169 and east of Haskell Indian Nation Reservation (the largest reservation within Tulsa). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of , all land. As of 2010, there were 27,553 people living in Enid proper and 3,814 living inside its limits including 1,922 Native American tribal members as well as 2,636 non-native citizens who are legal residents or permanent residents according to federal registration forms filed with the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Of these latter numbers: Enid's population growth rate from 2000 to 2010 was 67%. Additionally: The majority (69%) of Enid's residents are white; however this change may be due to increasing Hispanic immigration into town as well as other waves of international immigrants that have arrived over time such as refugees fleeing war or persecution abroad; this influx could also explain increases seen among black populations throughout eastern Oklahoma City specifically - although Hispanics make up just 11% percent of Enid’s population overall – reversing trends found throughout much larger central Oklahoma City which has a more diverse racial makeup with percentages ranging from 53% white to 92% black.
