Cowboy Press's first issue included advertisements for both rifles (the Colt .45) as well as handguns (the Smith & Wesson Model 10). At its peak circulation during World War II it had a print run of 100 thousand copies per week! However due to wartime restrictions on printing materials Cowboy Press ceased publication after 1945 without any further issues being produced

This led eventually to grenade magazines which would later be adapted for rifles Chinese Type 97 earthmines (first used during World War II)
