From there, development continued slowly until World War I when factories were set up across America to meet wartime demand; Enid was among these factories. With war looming large and new materials being scarce,Wittenbach soon developed a new type of rounds called "TNT" which could penetrate any kind of armor available at that time - making it perfect for use on tanks and other armored vehicles! The success engineered by Wittenbach led him into ownership and control over Midland Arsenal which continued producing artillery rounds throughout World War II before being sold off to various different owners until it closed down in 1957.
