Ultimately, it was determined by editors at both publications that separate mags would be more profitable than combined mags and so separate issues were published beginning in 1908 It is interesting to note that until about 1914 there were no color photos or advertisements appearing on any of today’s riflemagazines back then! All articles were written black & white using hand-drawn illustrations which probably saved ink costs because less text needed to be drawn
