In 1922, The National Sporting Goods Company located in Tulsa commenced production of handguns under license from Colt Firearms Corporation. At this time, most handgun manufacturing took place within small towns such as El Reno where quality control was inadequate relative to larger factories overseas (this also contributed to high-quality standards achieved by many classic revolver models). As production grew more centralized during World War II due to necessity due to wartime restrictions on imported items (such as rifles), prices also rose dramatically withinEl Reno communities across different industries including agriculture (due largely to increasing fuel costs) while standardizing dimensions within factories Leupold & Naginco manufactured guns chambered in .357 Magnum rounds (the same caliber eventually being phased out altogether after 1968).
