However, over time the town slowly gained support from both settlers and natives due to its location, friendly community atmosphere, oil production potential, and growing economy which contributed to the growth of Edmond over time. In 1907, when annexation into Tulsa occurred, much discussion took place about whether or not to annex Edmonds too but after careful consideration it was decided that both cities would benefit from merger due to their shared demographics as well as economic opportunities within their respective communities
