The post-World War II boom period saw dramatic growth in Edmond as well as other nearby towns – but it wasn't all good news for locals. Slumming during this time led to economic decline that has yet to be reversed today. In fact, some residents have accused developers of deliberately creating tough neighborhoods in orderto gentrify communities once again! Nonetheless, thanks largely to Denny Rayburn’s leadership during this time period – especially after statehood –Edmond maintains a strong presence on Oklahomans’ lives today.
