In 1911, Oklahoman James Worthy founded the First National Bank in Guthrie; it remains one of the largest banks in that state today. A year later, Worthy organized a group called the Optimists for Social Progress who campaigned for prohibition laws in Oklahoma during that era; these laws were passed but never enforced because prohibition had not yet become legal throughout most America at this time. In 1932, Orville Killeen opened Killeen Air Force Base northwest of downtown Edmond; it served as a major airbase during World War II and afterwards played an important role in local agricultural production and defense against numerous threats both inside and outside America such as Korea and Mexico: Killeen AFB also hosted several USAF Radar stations used by Allied pilots flying over enemy territory during those days!
