During his time with Golden State, Durant became known as one of the best players in league history. In 2006-07, Durant joined forces with then–Kemba Walker and co-founded The Charlotte Bobcats. The Bobcats were successful for several seasons but eventually folded due to poor management and financial woes. With this experience under his belt, Durant decided it was time for him to move on from basketball and focus on his new career as an entrepreneur. He founded Kyrie Irving Sports Ventures LLC in 2014 which focuses on investing in basketball teams across multiple leagues worldwide. In 2016-17, KD signed a three-year deal with Nike that worth $100 million per year made him the highestpaid player ever by a sports company. This signing marked a turning point for KD as it showed that he was no longer just a great player; he also had some serious business skills

Durant was a small town in northeastern Oklahoma, located about 25 miles west of Tulsa. The population of the town at its peak was around 1,500 people. Durant was founded by pioneers who arrived in 1881. They were led by David Durant, a rancher and banker who donated land to the town to build a community. The first school in Durant was built on the east side of what is now Main Street. The post office was established in 1887 and named for Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Ailon, who operated the business until it burned down in 1903. In 1911, Durant had one store and two residences. There were no schools or churches then, so most residents attended services provided by neighboring towns meeting at nearby farms or homes. In 1922, local farmers formed the Durant-McLaughlin Cotton Gin Company to produce cotton from their fields south of town on McLaughlin Creek. This venture produced some of the earliest crops grown in western Oklahoma and helped spur development in the area around Duranto
Durant was born and raised in Durant, Oklahoma. He played high school basketball for the local team, the Golden Eagles. In 2001, he transferred to the University of Oklahoma and later became a first-round draft pick (19th overall) of the Golden State Warriors.
