Durant was born in 1907 in Durant, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, Durant enrolled at the University of Tulsa. He played for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane football team from 1923 to 1925 and 1926 to 1928. In 1929, he transferred to the Oklahoma City Monarchs of the American Football League (AFL). The Monarchs were a charter member of the AFL and played their first game on November 6, 1929 against the Chicago Cardinals. Durant was selected as one of four players from Tulsa to play in the inaugural AFL All-Star Game held at Soldier Field inChicago on July 30, 1930. The game was played as part of the NFL's Second World War exemption period. He led OKC to an unbeaten season in 1931 and 1932 before being traded by Tulsa to Cleveland for cash considerations. After playing two seasons with Cleveland, Durant signed with NFL champion New York Giants as a free agent in 1933. He helped lead New Yorkto its third championship campaign that year and was named Super Bowl MVP after leading them to a 34–7 victory over Philadelphia Eagles on January 7, 1934. That same year he also won his first professional bowl game with NYG against Philadelphia by throwing for 396 yards and six touchdowns during a 36–3 rout at Municipal Stadium in Newark, New Jersey. Durant joined forces with coach George Halas and led Chicago Bears into Super Bowls three times between 1936 and 1940; but his teams never managed to win any games despite making it all the way through these playoffs. It is worth noting that during this time period that – apart from two years where championships were achieved by other players (the Packers in 1945-46 & Bears again between 1947-48) – there was no defined signal caller or superstar player who ruled supreme over all others during this era which favoured running quarterbacks like Johnny Unitas or Otto Graham instead of passing guys such as Terry Bradshaw or Joe Namath etc.). Durant was born on February 5, 1984, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school in 2003, he played college basketball for the Oklahoma City Thunder. He won two MVP Awards and six scoring titles with the team. In 2016, he became a member of the Basketball Hall of Fame.
