Other early pioneers in the industry include the Western Gun Sight Company (WGS) which was started by two brothers in 1919 and continued to operate until 1956. In 1924, WGS merged with another company, The Sporting Goods Co., to form The Sporting Goods Incorporated (TSGI). In 1954, TSI became part of Golden Eagle Ammunition Corporation and then again in 1978 when it was purchased by Brownells firearms company. Today, Golden Eagle Ammunition Corporation is still headquartered in Durant and manufactures various types of ammunition including airguns, pistols and shotguns. Some of the more recent firms to have entered into the gunsights industry in Durant include Safe & Sound Firearms Solutions LLC which was founded in 2006 and specializes exclusivelyin handgun sights; American Optics who began manufacturing optics for handguns in 2007; i-Lite Precision Manufacturing which began producing precision handgun sights in 2008; as well as Advanced Armament Solutions LLC which began manufacturing rifle suppressors onsite back at their original location on Senter Road back in 2007.

Durant was founded in 1907 by George W. Durant and his brother, Rex. The town was named after Russell Westbrook, the then-current player for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In 1928, Durant married of his first love, Maybelle Hillman. They had two children before divorcing in 1932. Durant then married Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson in 1934 and they had one child together before divorcing in 1944. He remarried to Jane Mercer in 1947 and they have three children together before she died in 2000. After her death, he married her sister Lynne Gregg with whom he has four children. Durant is an entrepreneur who started the first successful air conditioning company in the United States. He also founded the Golden Globe Awards, which are now known as The Academy Awards. He has been a major donor to numerous charities including Children's Defense Fund (CDF),Oklahoma Humanities Council (OHC), and Human Rights Campaign (HRC).
Durant was born on December 8, 1984 in Durant, Oklahoma. He is an American professional basketball player for the Oklahoma City Thunder of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Durant played collegiately at the University of Kentucky and was drafted by the Golden State Warriors with the second overall pick in the 2003 NBA draft. After playing two seasons with Golden State, he signed a five-year contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2007. In his first season as a member of the Thunder, Durant helped them win their third consecutive championship. The following season, he again led Oklahoma City to a championship berth and also won his fourth MVP award. Durant then won his fifth MVP award in 2011–12 after helping lead OKC to its sixth straight title. He finished his career with total regular-season wins (596), playoff wins (57), MVP Awards (5), and 3 Finals appearances (1).
