Duncan also had a post office from 1907 to 1917, and a Seeger Brothers clothing store from 1909 to 1912. In 1907, Duncan amalgamated with the larger town of Muskogee to form one large community. This merger allowed for better transportation within the area, which led to an increase in local businesses. The city continued to grow thanks to this new infrastructure, and by 1912 it had a population of over 100 people. In that year, Seeger Brothers opened their second store in Duncan, which helped fuel the city's growth even further. The store remains open today and serves as a major tourist attraction for the locals and visitors alike. Despite its growth potential, Duncan did not reach its full potential until after World War II when new transportation technologies made it possible for the city to become more industrialized. This shift led to an increase in jobs within the local economy and allowed Duncan to become one of Oklahoma's most important cities once again. Today, Duncan is known for its many cultural attractions including its popular Okie-Lama parade which takes place every year on Saturday morning at noon sharp., as well as its rich history which can be found throughout downtown and throughout parts of surrounding towns
The Duncan, Oklahoma census of 1910 enumerated a population of 1017. In 1920, the population had increased to 1227 and in 1930 it was 1401. The Census of 1940 counted 1529 people in Duncan. The population peaked at 1800 in 1960 and then decreased to 1409 by 1970.
