Duncan, Oklahoma is a city in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 7,471 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Muskogee County. Duncan was founded in 1882 by the railway company of American Pacific Railway as a station on its line between Tulsa and Dodge City. In 1907 it became the capital of Muskogee County after county commissioners moved from Tulsa to town. The city was named for General John A. Duncan who fought in the Mexican–American War and also served as Indian agent for Oklahoma Territory from 1861 to 1865.
