Del City was a small town in Oklahoma before it became part of the city of Tulsa. The community was founded on June 10, 1907 by James T. Rundle and his wife, Jennie. It had a population of just over 100 people when it began to grow rapidly due to the opening of the Del City Railroad in 1912. The town quickly became known for its great cotton textile production, and also for its livestock and crop production. In 1915, the town incorporated as a city under the name Tulsa.
