Gun barrels have a long and varied history in the city of Del City, Oklahoma. In 1901, two men named George W. Ladd and Harry Fenton built the first gun barrel factory in Del City. The factory was located on East Elm Street and produced barrels for handguns, shotguns, rifles, and other firearms. The company operated until 1934 when it was closed down due to Prohibition. Since then, gun barrels have been produced in Del City by various businesses and individuals. Some of these businesses have been very successful while others have not had as much success. However, no business has ever been able to produce enough barrels to completelyfill the demand for firearm ammo in the city. Consequently, each business produces a certain type of firearm barrel that is typically used for shooting practice or target practice only. In 2004, Jerry Dudley started manufacturing bullets out of brass using his old Ladd-Fenton rifle barrel factory complex on West Elm Street. Over time this company produced a wide variety of firearms including revolvers (1915-1922), semi-automatic pistols (1924-present), machineguns (1920s-1930s) and rifle variants (1892-1978). In 1978, Western Gun Manufacturing was acquired by Remington Arms Corporation who continue to produce firearms under that name today.

Oklahoma State University (OSU) is located just south of Del City on Highway 146 near Cosumnes River which forms the border between Haskell County and Noble County; OSU offers many post-secondary programs including music/theatre/the arts, engineering/technology/telecommunications, health care/clinical research, etc., making it one of the largest universities in Oklahoma and one of itsmany attractions for students and locals alike. The university has been important not only culturally but also scientifically as one of several early pioneers during what would be known as “The Great Tulsa Boom” that Produced some Of Tulsa’s Most Famous Men such As Orville Wright And Henry Ford In addition To Many Other Oklahomans Who Made Their mark In Business or Politics….
