Del City is located in the eastern part of Oklahoma and is bordered by Tulsa to the north, Muskogee County to the east, Haskell County to the south, and Choctaw County to the west. The population was 792 at the 2010 census. The town was founded in 1907 by Major General Nelson A. Miles and others as a corral for horses on present-day U.S. Route 61 near what is now Del City Elementary School. The name "Del City" comes from a white man's remark that it would be better if all Indians were living together in one place because then they could learn how to live peaceably without fighting each other. The first store in Del City opened its doors on Main Street in 1907, just northwest of today's downtown area. By 1912, there were six stores open in Del City with a population of about 100 residents. In 1916, the town had its first post office which served all of Haskell County until it was moved to Tulsa in 1930s when postal service became available only through Tulsa proper. In 1925, Del City began hosting an annual rodeo event known as "The Cotton Bowl." This event drew many people from all over northeastern Oklahoma who came for spectating or taking part in competitions including stock car races and steer wrestling matches (the latter being particularly popular). As time went on, more events started being held within DelCity itself such as carnivals and circuses which brought even more people into town - making it one of the most vibrant small towns ever established within Indian Country at that time! In recent years, much progress has been made withinDelCity towards becoming an amazing community both economically and socially! For instance, since 2007-2008 there have been several renovations/updates done to various buildings within town center such as new sidewalks/ pavements etc., as well as expansion of businesses like Starbucks Coffee & Grill inside central square (formerly known as "The Square"), growth of art galleries/ museums across 3rd St., addition of two new high school districts - Rusk High School District #1 and McLennan Intermediate School District #2 - respectively; significant increases seen in job opportunities throughout town due mainly to increased demand for skilled labor during times of economic downturns; establishment/ growth of numerous cultural events throughout year including music festivals (such as OKC Bluesfest), dance nights out etc.; considerable increase seein' populace diversity thruout city limits thruout wide region; major redevelopment project currently under way involving construction/maintaining operation/updates/promotion of revitalization efforts adjacentTo existing USD jail complex - providing much needed sorely needed employment & support services for surrounding communities Vale also recently announced investment totaling $10 million dollars towards development plan encompassing removal & replacementof aging water towers / pipeline infrastructure within older city limits - once complete this will resultIn creation Of largest open space infrontOf downtown area In Indian Country representing significant opportunityFor redevelopment OF entire innercity area w non-native born residents

Del City is a small town located inOklahoma, United States. It was founded in 1907 by J.W. Corder and his wife, Lula. The original town population was only 100 people. The name of the town came from the Del Norte County seat of Jenks, Oklahoma at the time. The first store in Del City was built on what is now Pritchett Road and it operated for about 10 years before being closed down due to lack of customers. In 1915, the Corder family started a grocery store on Main Street which remains open to this day as the Ralston's Grocery Store. Over time, other businesses followed suit until there were six stores operating within one block of each other in the early 1920s when Route 66 reached Del City. By then, Jens Hansen had opened a hardware store on Park Avenue and things began to grow even more quickly for the small community that consisted of just over 100 residents at its peak in 1927-28 when they hosted their second annual Oktoberfest celebration which attracted many visitors from nearby cities such as Tulsa and McAlester. In 1938, Donny French replaced Jens Hansen as owner/manager of the hardware store and continued to operate it until his death in 1990 after which it became known as Donny's Hardware Store which still stands today across the street from State High School (nowOUISchool). In 1945, another hardware store opened up on Broadway Avenue which remained open until it too closed down around 1970 due to competition from larger stores setting up shop near downtown Del City limits; however, local fans are still able to find remnants of this business today throughout Boulevard Avenue between StateHighSchoolandOUISchool - an indication that traffic congestion wasn't a major factor back then! Additionally new freewayprojectsledthespecialtystoreretail industry into decline starting around 1980 although some smaller mom & pop operations have kept going until recently including Dillards Department Store on Main Street that has been operational continuously since 1903! However recentgentrificationofdelcitypocketshasagainmadeitoneofthelargestoklahomacanviltownonlineworld! Today there are only a few remaining shops left in downtown Del City while large office complexes have taken over much of central Oklahoma city center leaving little room for retail growth apart from local mom & pop operations such as Kmart on S 6th St., Safeway on S 2nd St., Ruby Tuesday's on N 4th St., Bealls Sporting Goods inside OUISchool Annexesis well known locally for their fresh produce section alongside national chains like Walmart (!), Sears etc.. The city of Del City was established in 1907, and is the oldest continuously inhabited incorporated town in Oklahoma. The town was originally known as "Natchez" after General Nathaniel Banks, who fought in the Mexican-American War and founded the United States Virgin Islands colony. In 1887, the name of the town was changed to "Del City" after a land grant from J.P. Morgan. In 1907, Del City became an independent city under the jurisdiction of Oklahoma Territory. The first mayor of Del City was Wm. Hargrave & Sons Coal Merchants Association president Prentice Hargrave.
