The city has made significant progress since 2007 when it received $10 million from Tulsa Mayor Mick Cornett to help improve infrastructure across all aspects of downtown redevelopment projects; some of these include: expanding sidewalks throughout downtown; installation of high-quality streetlights; creation of a public works department which oversees various improvement projects; renovation/replacement of aging fire engines/trucks; addition of new parks/ playgrounds; expansion of parking garage Capacity to accommodate increased demand; improvement to drainage system which includes installation along Main Street corridor between First Avenue East and McClusky Avenue West (including renovation/replacement of old storm drains); construction over 4 acres inside renovated City Hall building which will house an outdoor amphitheater capable seating up to 25000 spectators (this project is now tentatively slated for completion in fall 2017); relocation or demolition (if necessary) almost 2 dozen homes that have been built on land adjacent to newly constructed OK State University Business Park Campus - this project is currently sidelined as work continues on identifying appropriate sites for relocated residences
