At that time, it consisted of only a few homes and some businesses including a hotel and bakery/canned goods store. By 1912, there were several stores, two churches (the First Baptist Church being built in 1908) and a schoolhouse all clustered around what is now Elm Street near Main Street east of Highway 99A (now known as Broadway). A new school building was completed in 1928 and additions were made to it over time including an auditorium/gallery (1948), jail (1963), library (1974), ambulance service station (1978), fire station (1992) and current shopping center complex which opened in 2004 featuring six restaurants/bars/a movie theater/. There are also several residences scattered throughout central Claremore including one home on State Road 1006 just west of Elm Street adjacent to Interstate 35W about 3 miles north of I-35N exit 214; another on FM 528 south of I-35E exit 246; one off US 69 south near milepost 7; one off US 169 east near milepost 10; another on FM 568 north just past milepost 12
