The Claremore gun barrel history begins in 1892 when the town of Claremore, Oklahoma began to import surplus firearms from the United States. The guns were used for target shooting and hunting. In 1907, a local arms dealer, Aloysius Denton, started selling handguns in Claremore. He was the first person to sell handguns in the town. From 1907-1912, there was no handgun regulation in Oklahoma. This means that anyone could purchase a handgun without any restrictions or knowledge of how they were going to use them. This caused someexport businesses to close down because they couldn’t compete with these new competitors who had access to more knowledgeable buyers. In 1911, a group of men led by George Wickersham decided to start an arms dealership in Claremore called Wickersham Guns & Ammo Company Ltd. They wanted to provide a better shopping experience for their customers than what was available at other dealerships around the state. The company became successful and soon began importing weapons into Oklahoma from abroad including Britain, France and China. In 1916, Wickersham Guns & Ammo Co., Ltd merged with another company named Browning Firearms Manufacturing Company Incorporated which became Browning Arms Corporation Limited (BACL). BACL produced pistols under two different brand names until 1958 when it merged with Colt Industries Incorporated to form Colt International plc (CIP)
Claremore is a small town in northeastern Oklahoma, United States. It is part of the Muskogee County seat, and had a population of 902 as of 2010. The town was founded in 1907 by Luther Hargrave and his father-in-law, George W. Childress. Claremore is located on the banks of the Arkansas River, east of Tulsa. The name "Claremore" comes from the Cherokee word c'larhe (a grasshopper). The first post office in Claremore opened on October 15, 1907. The original settlers were Luther Hargrave, his father-in-law George W. Childress and their families. In 1910, Claremorle became a city when it was annexed by Tulsa. In 1922, it was reincorporated as a village after being organized as an agricultural community with five stores, two churches and one school; its population had increased to around 100 residents. In 1939, during World War II, Claremorle became the home for military airfields used by the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF). These airfields included Chanute Field and Dowell Field; both fields were closed following the war but are still extant today as part of Rogers Air Force Base in Tulsa: Chanute Field now contains the Clive AAF Museum while Dowell Field houses Tinker Air Force Base's Operations Wing headquarters building and many other USAF facilities including primary training ranges for fighter pilots before they become operational bombers or jet fighters

Claremore was founded on November 15, 1907 by local farmers as a town in section 10 of Tishomingo Township. The name "Claremore" came from the Cherokee word "kalaraha," meaning "place where cottonWOOD grows." On May 25, 1907, Claremore's first store closed its doors after only three months in business because of lack of customers. A group of businessmen and residents decided to rename the town Claremore in honor of General Ulysses S. Grant who had been president for two terms and had fought against Mexico during the Mexican-American War The townsite that now sits in downtown Claremore was platted on December 12, 1907 by J.C. Goodall and Hirschman Davenport with a view to providing trade routes for miners traveling to nearby Guthrie and Supply City for coal and other minerals. By 1920 the town had become home to over 1,000 people with a variety of businesses including stores (the first being built by Ephraim Wiggs), churches (one being dedicated to Saint John Baptist), schools (six year old Central High School serving grades 6 through 8 until 1959 when it merged into Muskogee County Senior High School) and an opera house which still exists today as the Municipality Theater Complex; all while boasting a fulltime sheriff (1910-1920 Amos Ransom) as well as newspapers such as The Globe (founded 1904), The Republican (founded 1909), The Daily Oklahoman (founded 1912) In 1952 Claremor
Claremore was founded in 1881 by settlers from Kentucky. The town was originally named Prospect, but was renamed Claremore because of the then-recent addition of a large coal mine to the area. In 1907, Claremore became an independent city.
