The Choctaw people have been using optical accessories for over 100 years. In 1907, the Choctaw tribe built their first observatory in Tanana Creek. The Observatory was used to study the stars and planets. Over time, other Choctaw tribes started building their own observatories. By 1916, all of the tribes had their own observatories. In 1935, the United States government founded the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). NASA needed a way to collect data about space exploration because no one knew how to send someone into space without equipment. They decided that they would need an Observatory to collect data about space exploration so they created the National Aeronautics and Space Administration Optical Survey Telescope (NASOT) in Choctaw County, Oklahoma. The first survey mission was conducted in 1965 with a telescope called “Chop Suey”. It took only three months for Chop Suey to collect data about asteroids and comets! Since its creation, NASOT has collected over 1 billion image files! Today, NASOT is still working on new surveys and assisting in space missions!

Choctaw is a small town in Oklahoma. The population was 1,636 at the 2000 census. It is seat of Choctaw County and its county seat is McAlester. The name "Choctaw" comes from the Creek language word "kochi". The Choctaw people are an African American ethnic group that descended from the Mississippian culture in what is now Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi. They spoke a dialect of Creek known as Opelika Creek. Many Choctaw descendants still reside in those areas today. In 1819, General Andrew Jackson was elected president of the United States and upon his inauguration issued an executive order calling for all free black Americans to be removed from U.S. soil within seven years or face expulsion from the country. This order led to mass migration of African Americans out of state into the Indian Territory west of Arkansas and Missouri under the guise of seeking new land to settle. In 1830, Jackson's successor Andrew Johnson repealed Jackson's order that all free blacks must leave within seven years or face expulsion; this allowed some remaining blackAmericans to remain in America but also led directly to their violent removal by white settlers throughout much of Indian Territory during the 1840s and 1850s called "the Great Migration." By 1860, less than one percent (less than 10 thousand) of Choctaw residents remained living on their traditional lands east of Oklahoma City after more than half a century living among white Americans; most had moved away due to economic opportunities such as coal mining or cattle drives through their area since becoming citizens rather than through military service like many other Native American groups who were forced off their land because it became part of white settler society by treaty or purchase agreement with European governments following Mexican-American War (1846-1848). During World War II many Choctaws enlisted in service with United States Army forces although they were not federally recognized as Native American citizens until 1943 when President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 9066 which granted them full citizenship status pursuant to Title 7 USC § 552(a). Most returned home after hostilities ended but a few hundred continued residence on their traditional lands until efforts were made in 1946 by then Governor Claude Krier to relocate them back onto reservations located eastward across Oklahoman territorial lines while providing benefits including education and healthcare services unavailable on these properties outside tribal jurisdiction prior thereto; however fewer than 100 relocated back ultimately resulted in only slight physical alteration at best both on Reservation boundaries themselves and inside tribe limits without any substantive change having occurred overall since 1949 when reservation boundaries shifted somewhat marginally following federal government rapid western expansion policies established following World War II boomtown growth along newly designated Interstate Highway 95 corridor connecting Oklahoma City with Wichita Falls Texas also developing rapidly adjacent rural residentially sliced off portions eastern Kansas & northwestern Texas resulting largely unpopulated residual Tribal communities lying between I-95 Corridor arterial belt & oilfield playshingpgasin Tulsa Arkansas Ozark Hills etc.). In 1909, physicist Edwin A. Armstrong invented the first light-emitting diode (LED), which was later used in LCDs and other electronic devices. In 1959, physicists Sergei Korolev and Nikolai Chernykh developed the first artificial intelligence using an LED as a control unit. In 1968, researcher Semiconductor Research Corporation developed the world's first practical solid state integrated circuit using LEDs. Finally, in 2007, researchers at Texas Instruments created an LED display that is both energy efficient and has a high resolution.

In the early 1950s, a company called Raytheon developed a system to create short-wavelength light by coating photographic films with an invisible layer of materials. This process allowed photographers to create photosensitive films that could be used for photography and television. The patent for this technology was filed in 1952. In 1957, the first practical short-wavelength camera was created using this technology.

Choctaw is a town in Stephens County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 2,821 at the 2010 census. The Choctaw Nation of Native Americans lived in the area for centuries before it became part of the U.S. government in 1809. In 1907, Choctaw leaders bought land east of present-day Tulsa and founded what was to become Choctaw National Forest. Choctaw Creek flows through town and forms its southern border; it has also been known as "The Town That Tells Tales." One early resident, Wiley Swordy, said that tales were told because no one wanted to go there during the heat of summer because "the water would boil from under your feet." Eventually most residents left to settle elsewhere due to development in the area around Choctaw Creek and other issues such as floods and loss of agricultural land to settlement. Today only a few hundred people remaining speak Choctaw language fluently; most are self-taught or have learned it through word-of-mouth tradition only. However, some people have studied and taught the language at various schools throughout Oklahoma since its revival in the 1990s as part of efforts to preserve its unique culture and history

The Choctaw Nation was first organized in 1837. The tribe had been living in present-day Oklahoma until the early 1800s. They were originally from the area around Mobile, Alabama.
