From then until 1907, ChoctAW county was part of Adams County; however, because Adams County included most of central Oklahoma City (then known as Muskogee), the county seat moved to ChoctAW from time to time during that period. In 1907,zonation changes within Union County caused all but two of the remaining OKC businesses to move out of town so thatOKC would become its own municipality - an event still celebrated each year by holding aatonement service at Stonewall Jackson Boulevard's Methodist Church (now First Baptist Church) downtown OKC on November 5th morning preceding Mayor Tishman's proclamation that cityhood had been granted! Today, much evidence remains from that time includingWWII bomb sites and trenches dug around them for protection from future raids. The bombed areas are also home to some interesting stores and businesses that survived the war such as Topeka's Armoury store which is still open today and features displays about Allied air attacks on England during WWII
