Choctaw, Oklahoma is an agricultural and cattle town located in the panhandle of Oklahoma. The Choctaw Nation was created in 1836 by Indian Chiefs Crazy Horse and Little Thunder. The town of Choctaw was founded in 1907 by G. W. Butler, a rancher who had acquired land east of the Battle Creek River. In 1923, Butler donated his land to the city of Guthrie for use as a municipal park and public square. A firearms manufacturer active in Choctaw from at least 1903 through 1925 is unknown but it is safe to assume that gun parts manufacturing activity there continued until at least then given the high level of technology used during this time period. During the early 1900s, Choctaw residents were responsible for building most all handguns sold within their territory including those made by Smith & Wesson (which still makes revolvers to this day). While other manufacturers also produced handguns in Choctaw at this time (including Colt), Smith & Wesson’s dominance will always be remembered due to their contribution to firearm history hereabouts. This production began on what is now known as Butler Ranch which was originally located east of the Battle Creek River between Garvin County on the north and Tulsa County on the south side of the river before being moved westward circa 1910-1912 pursuant to a land grant received from President William McKinley via Treaty #8 dated November 12, 1901 (#7) between Great Britain and America resulting from American efforts led by Clifton Goodyear along with Canadian sources to secure control over much of Northwest Territories following Canada’s entry into Confederation on July 1st, 1867 (#1)). The frame also needs to be designed properly so that it can handle the stress of being fired. The Barrel: The barrel is what projects the rounds out of the firearm and into the air. It needs to be made from quality materials such as steel or aluminum so that it can handle its own weight and stay in tact during firing. It should also be able to withstand high recoil forces. Bolt Action Guns: Bolt action guns are unique in that they rely on a button on the side of the gun to fire rounds instead of using a lever like most firearms. This type of gun is often referred to as an “assault rifle” because it was originally meant for use in warfare against civilians.

The modern firearms we use today began their development in the mid-19th century. For many years pistols and rifles were made of simple bronze or brass alloy, which was not very durable. In 1847 Swiss rifle manufacturer Degussa produced the first revolving revolver, which soon became a favorite weapon of law enforcement. In 1857, Hungarian gunsmith Szelest invented the first breechloading shotgun, which allowed for faster reloading and eliminated the need to fumble with cartridges. This gave shotguns more firepower compared to handguns and pistols. Soon after, other firearm manufacturers followed suit with their own breechloading shotguns. The popularity of breechloading shotguns led to an increase in manufacturing processes for these firearms as well as new materials and designs that better suited military use such as plated steel, hardwood stocks, and iron sights. By 1860 all major American firearm manufacturers had fielded revolvers chambered for either centerfire rounds or percussion caps (known today as “shotguns”).
The modern rifle began in the early 18th century with the French guerilla warfare and longbowman, Francois de Bourgogne, who developed a system of shooting at will with a bow and arrow. The first firearms were designed to be fired by means of powder stored in cases on the gun's stock. These rifles became known as muzzle-loading guns. In 1795, George Washington began using matchlocks to fire shot from his Mount Vernon home into the night for practice. soon after this he adopted a new type of firearm known as an NRA (National Rifle Association) muzzleloader which ran on black powder instead of cordite or other types of ammunition.
Choctaw is a Native American tribe located in Oklahoma. The Choctaw Nation was founded in 1821, and its capital was at Muskogee. The Choctaw Indians were the most numerous and influential Native American tribe of the Great Lakes region. They spoke an Algonquian language, which is similar to the Creeks of North America. The Choctaw Nation had six traditional chiefdoms: Atchison, Topeka, Santa Fe, Wichita Falls, and Okmulgee. In 1836, when Choktawa led a band of his people into what is now Texas during a religious migration across the Plains, he organized them into one tribal unit under the name of the Creek Nation. The first white settlers in present-day Choctaw County began arriving in this area in 1852. By 1865, white settlers had laid out towns and villages throughout present-day Choctaw County with churches and stores as their foundation blocks. In 1907, after years of negotiations between Indian leaders and US representatives over land allotment issues and other grievances, Creek Indians ceded all remaining Seminole lands east of Oklahoma City to US government for educational purposes only; they did not lose any rights or privileges that may have been associated with those lands under their control before this time. As part of this treaty settlement the Cherokee nation also ceded land to the United States west of Tulsa on three Rounds Island tracts totaling 4 square miles (10 square kilometers). This tract included about two-thirds of current Tulsa city limits plus much additional territory extending inland beyond First Ward boundaries northward to Garnet Road/Ender’s Lake cutoff point near Mayfair Heights neighborhood on White Cloud Bayou irrigation district boundary
