Choctaw, Oklahoma is home to the Choctaw Bicentennial Museum. The museum tells the story of binoculars from their early history to the present day. Binoculars have been a part of Choctaw culture for centuries and are still used today. The first binoculars were made in 1795 by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and they were used by French traders on the Indian Trail. In 1827, Peter Kalb founded the First American Optical Company in Cincinnati, Ohio, which produced binoculars until 1892 when it merged with The National Optics Company in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1907, Lewis Hine established the Hine Observatory near Tucson, Arizona as the first observatory to use electronicConnell optics for scientific observation. He also designed and built the world’s first mechanically controlled telescope, Summit Mountain Observatory at Mount Wilson in California in 1909. In 1925-1926, Jameson Kapp sent his Kapp-Kern telephoto camera lens mounted on a large equatorial mount carrying two pairs of binoculars into space aboard Explorer II ( launched May 5th 1926) while orbiting around Earth at an altitude of 45 kilometers ( 28 miles). This was one of mankind’s earliest experiments with using technology to observe astronomical objects beyond our planet Earth!

Choctaw is a small town in Choctaw County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Muskogee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Choctaw Nation was organized on November 3, 1826 by Chief Justice John Marshall and other chiefs under the leadership of Tecumseh. The tribe had been living along the Arkansas River since 1795. On July 4, 1861,Oklahoma became a U.S. state and Choctaw land east of Muskogee was taken from them as part of that territory's initial donation to the new nation; however, they continued to exist as a federally recognized tribe until 1959 when they were granted their own individual civil rights and obtained full sovereignty within the OKCMOA (Oklahoma Indian Affairs Administration). During World War II, Choctaw served in various military roles including arms production for the government-owned munitions company Peculiarities Ordnance Company during World War II (1943-1945). They also formed an alliance with Kiowa Tribe members in order to resist Japanese aggression which led to some tension between Choctaw and Kiowa Nation leaders after Pearl Harbor ( 1941 ). Afterward most tribal members joined forces with American forces against Japan . In 1948 Cherokee Nation leader Joe Johnston announced his candidacy for president of the United States but lost to Franklin D. Roosevelt in what many consider to be one of history’s watershed moments; this event raised public awareness about tribal issues that would continue up until today

Choctaw is a small, unincorporated community in Oklahoma about 20 miles north of Tulsa. The Choctaw Nation was founded in 1824 and the town was platted in 1872. The population of Choctaw at the 2000 census was 187 people. The Choctaw Nation's first capital was located at what is now Tellico Lake and it remained their seat until 1868 when they moved to a new location south of town. The nation's first school opened in 1878, and the first courthouse (built in 1905) was erected that year. The Choctaw Nation regained its territorial rights on January 1, 1907 when Oklahoma became a state. In 1930, Choctaw residents organized themselves into an autonomous community known as the Cherokee Nation under the leadership of Chief Red Cloud. In 1989, after years of struggles with government over water rights and other issues, the tribe voluntarily withdrew from Indian Country and entered into a relationship with the United States government known as "the Agreement". This relationship ended with American Indian Movement (AIM) protests against IOUs signed by then-President George H.W. Bush in 1990 which led to military intervention by U.S.-backed police forces against AIM participants; however, no violence or fatalities occurred during this period as a result of tribal conflict with federal authorities
Choctaw is a small town in Oklahoman County, located about east of Lawton. The Choctaw Nation was once headquartered here and the Choctaw people are still living within the community today.
