Chickasha is part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Chickasha Post Office opened on July 1, 1892 and closed on June 30, 1954. According to the United States Census Bureau, Chickasha has a total area of , all land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,644 people, 551 households, and 459 families residing in the town. The population density was 381.4 people per square mile (150.6/km²). There were 658 housing units at an average density of 158.8 per square mile (65.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98% White; 0% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; <0% Pacific Islander; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 3%.

Chickasha is a town inast Oklahoma, part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. The population was 8,857 at the 2010 census. Chickasha is located in northeastern Tulsa County on the east bank of the Arkansas River. It is bordered to the south by Grady and southeast by Jenks. To the north lies Canadian Creek and to the west lies US-183 (now I-635). The first people to live in Chickasha were Creeks who had moved downriver from Muskogee in 1836. There are some evidence that Chickasha may have been founded as early as 1837 when James Hargrave built a cabin hereabouts. In 1839, Indian traders postulated this name for a place near present day Jenks where they found buffalo robes and other game while exploring what is now northeast Tulsa County on their way to market. They chose this location because it lay on land grant that had been given to Major John Chilton, general commanding Indian Territory forces under Ulysses S Grant during the Seminole War (1845-1848). On July 24, 1840, about seventy Creeks convened at Chilton's cabin for religious services and decided upon this new site for their agency or trading post which would be known as "Chickasha". In 1846, Chickasha was attacked byMODOKI Indians who burned all but four homes within three miles of town limits. The attack was led by Chief Joseph Ahtna with around fifty warriors including his brother Captain Augustus Ahtna against about fifty whites & six chieftains of other tribes living in eastern Muskogee County adjacent to modern day Tulsa County including those from Osage Nation also living east of today's Jenks - nearly 3000 people totaling more than half ofISHOKA'S POPULATION IN 1860!!! This attack marked one of many such conflicts between white settlers and Native Americans during what became known as 'Oklahoma War'. Many natives were killed or capturedincludingChief Joseph Ahtna himself who later died at an American military hospital in Kansas City after being wounded five times during these skirmishes............. In 1850 Eastern Creek removed themselves from Choctaw Nation so they no longer felt bound by treaty obligations arising out of the war with MODOKI........... In 1861CHICKASHA CAME INTO BEING WHEN THE OKLAHOMA WAR ENDED WITH THE BATTLE OF JENKINS....... The first store opened hereabouts November 3rd 1851 when German immigrant Johann Friedrich Soemmertopened an early dry goods store with two barrels of oil per week generating $5 profit...... By 1865 GEOFFREY SOEMMERT HAS SOLD OUT HIS STORES HEREBECAUSE OF HIGH BUSINESS DILUTION AS MORE AND MORE AMERICANS ARRIVED TO TULSA............. After years of effort initiated by local citizens CHICKASHA IS OFFICIALLY SET UP AS AN INTERNATIONAL STORE ON MAY 7TH OF THAT YEAR BY PRESIDENT LINCOLN VICTOR HUGHES......... Today Chickasha continues to thrive thanks to its rich history and vibrant community character............
Chickasha is a city in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 47 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Chickasha was founded by Choctaw Indians in 1881 as part of the Wichita District and named for Chief Chickasha. The city was established on the west side of what is now east town street and north of Indian School Road. In 1907, it moved to its current location on east town street just south of Canadian Avenue. In 1935, Chickasha became an incorporated city under state law and adopted a new name: Chickasha, Oklahoma after its founder's Creek Indian descent. It has since reverted to its original name
