Chickasha is a small, unincorporated community located in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. It is home to the Chickasha Volunteer Fire Department and the Chickasha Micropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 705 at the 2010 census. The area that would become Chickasha was first settled by Choctaw people during the 18th century. In 1881, apostage stamp issue from Choctaw Nation featured an image of a creek that ran through what is now Chickasha. At the time, it was one of only two postal facilities in Muskogee County and served as the main source of water for many residents. In 1907, a group of settlers known as The Daughters of The American Revolution began to farm land in what would later become Chickasha. They named their new community after Mount Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania where they had been raised. By 1912, the settlement had grown to include several buildings and 100 residents. That year, local contractors hired by J C Penney built a large store and post office on East Main Street called Penney's Place which still stands today. During World War II, Hickory Ridge Ammunition Plant (now part of Mayflower Ammunition) was located in what is now Chickasha; it produced munitions for use in the war effort. After hostilities ended in 1945, many of these manufacturing jobs vanished as Korean War refugees came overland and took up residence throughout central Oklahoma City and parts of Muskogee County while looking for work opportunities outside their war-torn country. In 1949, after years of discussion between local officials and members of The Methodist Church about creating an agricultural area adjacent to town so that more people could be supplied with fresh produce not available from miles away or out-of-state sources, land became available near present day Hickory Ridge Road and West Main Street - thereafter called "Chickasha Pocket". As development continued to occur around town - including construction on Interstate 35W - various names were given to various portions thereof: Indian Trail Park (1960), Chisholm Trails Park (1965), Oak Hills Drive (1969), Potter Turnpike Extension (1973), Chuckwalla Heights subdivision (1981). Ultimately chosen as "Chickasha," it has been its moniker since then - though some have advocated for naming it 'Oklahoma City' due to its proximity to both downtown Oklahoma City and Tulsa metropolitan areas

The Chickasha Indian Wars began in 1867 when the Chickasha tribe tried to take over a white man's land. The whiteman, John A. Huffaker, fought back and killed many of the Chickasha. After the battle, the Chickasha community was scattered and most of them moved to present-day Oklahoma City.
