Chickasha is a small town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 5,916 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Chickasha is located at (36.866667, -94.644111). The Chickasha community began as a post office and settlement on the east side of the Muskogee River in 1887. A school was built there in 1890 and named after Mrs. Anna Laddie Chickasha, daughter of Major Jameson Chickasha of Fort Cobbell fame and one of the first white women to live on Indian Territory after its acquisition by the United States government in 1845. After Indian Removal in 1889, most settlers abandoned Chickasha for other towns within Muskogee County or for what became Tulsa City limits north of I-40. A new post office was established at Chickasha in 1907, and remained open until it closed on November 3, 1969; its last letter mailed being October 25th that year. The current ZIP code for this small town is 71601; however, ZIP code 93118 should also be included because it once included an unincorporated community called Pawnee Hills which lies just outside the boundaries of present day Chickasha

Chickasha is a town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 810 at the 2010 census. Chickasha is part of the Tulsa Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Chickasha post office was established in 1907 and discontinued operation in 1959. Chickasha first appeared on maps as "Chenkasha." It was named for Captain John Chennault, a white settler who arrived in 1892. Chennault named his land Chenkasha after the Cherokee word "chicka" meaning place where rice grows. In 1907, Chickasha had a population of 15 people and its first store was opened by Wm. J. Fenton Jr.. The town grew rapidly from its initial footprint and by 1912 it had a population of 50 people and two stores. In 1915, Chickasha annexed the towns of Goode and Uniontown to its jurisdiction and the name change to Chickasha again became official when it incorporated as a municipality! The 1920 census counted 1,534 residents in Chickasha with one store; however, this number increased to 3,075 by 1930 due to annexation of other nearby towns (Goode、Uniontown) into the city limits of Chickasha! Chickasha was founded in 1907 by a group of men who emigrated from what is now Russia. Chickasha was the first town west of Arkansas to be founded on the Oklahoma Territory. The town was located near present-day Muskogee and served as a trading post between the two settlements.
