In 1933, local school superintendent Matson decided to install new range facilities adjacent to his house on Old Hwy 6 west of town. Gun ranges continued popping up throughout the Depression era, and by 1936 there were more than 20 active NRA clubs in Chickasha! With so many people using these ranges, ammo became expensive and Demand grew even greater during World War II when cities across America turned into targets!

Well-manured land produces corn, beans, oats, cottonseed and other crops; while two ponds provide irrigation for much of the area’s agriculture. Timber also has been a valuable resource here as well: oak trees were first felled here in 1890; cedar trees were cut down here beginning in 1935; and black walnut trees were first grown here during World War II. Today, Chickasha remains a vibrant community with strong ties to its rural surroundings as well as its urban counterparts – both within Choctaw County itself as well as across town or across state lines when traveling through OKC or Tulsa on I-40/OKC Blvd., which skirts downtown Chickasha limits (though there are no streets directly running through it). Many businesses located within walking distance of each other continue to thrive despite tough economic times – including several banks (including one that doubled as an early night store), several restaurants and taverns (including one that serves exclusively chicken dishes), a gas station/convenience store/ hardware store/grocery store combo known locally simply as “The Store” (now closed), several different types of car dealerships including two new Chevrolet dealership locations opening this year alone - all while still keeping their historic storefront windows intact!
