Chickasha, Oklahoma is a small town located in east-central Oklahoma about 25 miles northeast of the state capital, OKC. The population was 2,899 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chickasha Micropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now includes Chickasha was first settled by Wichita Indians in 1867. The town was platted in 1879 and named after John C. Chickasha, an early settler. A post office opened in 1880 and remained open until 1907. In 1907, the Hutchinson County seat was moved from Chickasha to Muskogee because of population growth in the area around Muskogee City (now Tulsa). In 1911, the US government passed a law giving citizens of Indian Territory the right to carry firearms for self-defense purposes without having to obtain a license from the federal government. This law became known as "The Law of Open Carry." Because Indian Territory excluded women from owning firearms, many women began to carry firearms for protection within Indian Territory beginning in 1911. Beginning in 1912, towns throughout Indian Territory started to adopt resolutions adopting "The Law of Open Carry." As time went on, more and more towns adopted this resolution; by 1915 all but two of the 83 counties within Indian Territory were covered by it. This law continued to be effective even after Oklahoma seceded from the United States in 1907 and thereby lost its right to regulate gun ownership on its own soil. In 1923, Congress amended The Law of Open Carry so that citizens could not only possess handguns while carrying them openly but also transport them across state lines without fear of being arrested or fined if they were caught with their handgun unloaded and unzipped inside their vehicle. This change effectively ended Native American self-defense against crime on public property within Indian Territory; prior laws still allowed for such defense if necessary outsideIndian Territory boundaries (see below). A few weeks before his death on November 5th 1923 President Herbert Hoover signed an executive order directing all US states exceptOklahoma to recognize Oklahoma's independence from Washington D C as soon as possible pursuant to then current national political conditions which favored Oklahomans over Americans residing onOKLAHOMA THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA . Consequently all guns carried openly must now be stored unloaded inside your vehicle when not being used

Chickasha is a town in Haskell County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,813 at the 2010 census. Chickasha is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Chickasha was founded in 1907 by Gussie and John Hargrave and named for their niece Chickasha (1898-1964), who had been born in nearby Jenks. The first permanent settler in Chickasha was J.B. Hurtado and his family from New Mexico on July 3, 1907. They arrived with five cows and began to build a cabin near the creek that later became Chickasha Creek. Hurtado's brother Pedro built a small post office near the creek on October 3, 1907, until the first post office building burned down on December 9, 1907. A store called "The Cattlemen" opened its doors on January 10, 1908 next door to the old post office building which had been destroyed by fire three days earlier. The store was run by John Ahern until he died in 1911 when it passed into ownership of his son Harry Ahern Jr., who operated it until it closed operations in 1957 due to lack of customers or financial difficulties caused by World War II allied bombing raids against Wichita City and other towns within miles of Chickasha. In 1951 Harry Ahern Sr.'s widow married Ollie Greenough and ran the store under her name until her death in 1984; then it passed into ownership of her daughter Laurie Greenough before being reopened as an Indo-American grocery store by my wife Jane Greenough Peterson since 2003 after having been closed for over 20 years when we bought it from them during our family dynastysketches back during those bad old days when all your parents did was buy groceries from you). In 1947 Donny & Carolyn Slocum moved to Chickasha from Texarkana because they were sick of all the rainback home flooding they were experiencing back east especially up around Wichita City where their dad lived & owned a sawmill (&red property) so they could go live someplace dry instead of trying to rebuild every time there was a storm like there seemed to be every few weeks no matter how much water we put out tryin’ not too get hit hard). In 2007–2008 I started keeping track of community events happening throughout Haskell County through social media sites like facebook so people could keep an eye out for things happening that might interest them either locally or beyond our small town limits[1] as well as occasional blog posts here about local happenings if something pops up that warranted such writing outside of more traditional means like reporting news weekly or bimonthly etc.—that sorta thing but kinda more personal now tho’! So any new or interesting events mentioned below are included as well!: Chickasha has always had two churches—one German Lutheran (1907) and one Methodist (1910)—and several other religious services have been held over time including Baptist (1912), Presbyterian (1915), Scientist (1917), Pentecostal (1920), Unitarian Universalist (1968), Roman Catholic (1978), Assemblies of God(2000). There is also an atheist club which meets monthly inside one church basement meeting room where everyone can come&talk without fear of reprisal! A primary school opened at Chickasha High School on September 8, 1912; however due to low enrollment rates students transferred to nearby Anadarko Elementary School beginning with second grade that year only because Anadarko had more space than chickashaweever would ever need again!!! In 1915 Cherokee Nation Indian agent James Hightower came into town seeking land purchase for about $3 per acre because he claimed he possessed rights thereto pursuant to treaties signed between Ulysses S Grant & Tecumseh Sherman regarding Native American lands westward toward Arkansas/Oklahoma Territory—during this time period most locals considered him just another white man looking for easy riches!!! However following his visit some residents decided he wasn't really interested in dealing with Native Americans directly so instead formed what became known as "Hightower's Rangers" aka "the Chisholm Scouts" (&red name—this after General James Hightower himself once said “if chisholm isn’t properly represented I am going do something about it!”)—who helpedilders protect local farmers while hunting buffalo spirits along Chinle River valley etc.—from possible pursuit by government officials!!! After General Hightower's death many members joined his Rangers including future governor David Goodnight (!)) but eventually disbanding due primarilyto lackof fundingrelated problems :(!). priorToChickashee HighSchoolopening: oklahomans usedto fightamongst themselves over who should teach public schools here although all major denominations offered instruction here thru various teaching methodologies including voice lessons wile demonstrating various art techniques using chalk signs or large drawing boards set up outdoors across from jail [2]!! Today most kids learnin' alright though!!!!! :)
