Chickasha is a small town in Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Chickasha is located on the east bank of the Arkansas River and its ZIP code is 74129. The first permanent settler in Chickasha was John Amsden who arrived in 1851. In 1853, J.M. Dooley established a sawmill on the Arkansas River and also bought land from Amsden for $100. By 1870, Chickasha had a three-day stage stop on the Canadian Pacific Railway and an arsenal to provide defense against Indian attacks. During World War I, Chickasha became one of several towns in Muskogee County to declare themselves pro-German; however, they were soon forced to rescind their support when America entered into war against Germany because of Austria-Hungary's annexation of Serbia In 1935, Chickasha organized itself as a municipal government with a mayor and nine council members under what is now called "the Mayor Pro Tem" system which continued until 1959 when direct elections were instituted for all citywide offices including mayor and councilmember while still using "the Mayor Pro Tem" system There have been two mayors since 1959: Chester Nolen (1991–1996) and Donny Johnson (1997–2001). As of July 2008 there are six council members representing wards 1 through 6 with one seat remaining open due to retirement or death; this leaves 13 councillors total which will be divided among 5 wards starting in 2009 if no new ordinances are introduced then Councilwoman Lisa Sims will serve out her full term remaining before she vacates seat #2 leaving 3 seats up for grabs after that

Chickasha is a small town in Oklahoma, located on the Chickasha River. The community was founded in 1907 by white pioneers who named it after the Chickasha Hills, which are located to the east of the town. Chickasha became a census-designated place (CDP) in 1984 and its population was 5,898 at the 2000 census. Chickasha is known for its cattle country that covers an area of about . The region supports a high concentration of cattle because of its fertile soil and lack of other food sources. This makes Chickasha an important center for ranchers and farmers in eastern Oklahoma. It also has a strong truck stop and retail industry presence. The first settlers in Chickasha were white men from Missouri who had arrived during the early 1800s to help peasants farm land near what is now Tulsa. In 1907, they organized a group to settle northeast Oklahoma Territory on land donated by J.B. Smith, one of Tulsa's leading landowners at the time. They named their new town after nearby hills called Chickasha Hills because they thought this would give it some protection from possible Indian attack. The settlement quickly grew into a small village with only 20 residents when World War I started in 1914. By 1918, it had grown to over 100 people thanks to support from local businesses and citizens who helped build housing and roads. After the war ended, many residents decided to return home as 255 people moved back into Chickasha between 1922 and 1924 due to improvements made by then-Mayor Harry Fenton Jr.. In 1965, Mayor Johnnie Joiner formed what is now known as the City Council and began planning for growth within the village boundaries which would eventually encompass all of northeastern Oklahoma Territory including parts of present day Wichita County as well as most of Muskogee County east of Interstate 40 until then unincorporated territory under state control including much of today's Bartlesville area northward to Guthrie County line). On July 3rd1965 City Council passed Resolution No 1 authorizing annexation by Wichita County effective October 1st1965 following discussion among members regarding Taxation & Land Development Committee recommendations submitted thereto ***** (See annexed Ordinance No 9997). As such Chicashawe Incorporated became an official part Of WichitaCounty ***** just prior To November 8th1966 when incorporation ordinance effective****** was filed with county clerk
