Today, Chickasha remains an important center for cultural expression within its indigenous community as well as its larger surroundings: it hosts several festivals each year such as Tribal Days Celebration & Powwow which celebrate tribal culture; numerous art shows; music festivals; Native American gaming tournaments; rodeo events;and more; while also providing opportunities for educational programming from local colleges and universities such as Oklahoma State University-Stillwater (OSU), Oral Roberts University-Odessa (ORU), Cherokee Nation Community College/Cherokee Nation School District #2 (CNCCD/CHS) and Hutchinson Community College (Hutchinson).

This historic achievement helped to pave the way for numerous social justice reforms initiatives throughout Tulsa County during that decade. In 1966, Mayor John Capps announced plans to demolish all but one block of downtown business district due to their persistent lack of parking spaces; this proposal Ultimately failed after major financial contributions from business owners within our townspeople resulted in its reversal less than two months later
