The Chickasha post office was established in 1892, and closed in 1907. In 1922, Chickasha voters approved a $10 per capita tax to support public schools. In 1932, Chickasha voters passed an ordinance creating a fire department, and adopting a "cleanliness code" for the community which became effective May 1, 1934. In 1938, Chickasha voters passed an ordinance authorizing the erection of a high school; it opened on October 15th of that year. The first graduating class of Chickasha High School graduated on December 15th, 1941. The first female graduate of Chickasha High School was Misses Ruth and Alice Kapp from Muskogee University who received their degrees in education on May 7th 1942 while they were still students at school; they had left for military service that day as World War II began officially. In 1948-1949, the Chickasha City Council passed ordinances authorizing annexation by Haskell County; this annexation occurred on July 17th 1949 with the plat for the new high school being filed on August 2nd 1949 . On November 3rd 1952 , Chickasha residents voted to secede from Haskell County and form its own government under a new state constitution ; this referendum resulted in an overwhelming no vote (over 60% against secession). However Chaska did agree to become unincorporated territory within Haskell County until 1959 when all changes within Haskell County were ratified through an act of Congress . On January 4th 1960 , unsigned Resolution No 3691 was adopted by local residents designating Ashtown Creek as their official name - it remains so today! On November 1st 1960 , following passage by Oklahoma Territory Legislature resolution accepting incorporation into Oklahoma by unanimous vote of both chambers - all but one citizen(s) living within Ashtown Creek voting against it - Chaska citizens again voted to secede from Haskell County and form its own government under a new state constitution ; this referendum resulted in an overwhelming yes vote (over 60% in favor)! This event marked what has been called "the beginning of civilization" for Ashtown Creek Residents! Finally effective January 4th 1966 after years spent unsuccessfully trying to gain statehood - all residents inside Ashtown Creek Municipality now enjoy fullOklahoma Statehood!

Chickasha, Oklahoma is a small town in the US state of Oklahoma. The population was 941 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tulsa metropolitan area. Chickasha is located on the Arkansas River and has a history dating back to 1881. The community was named for A.J. Chickasha, an early landowner in what is now Chickasha County, Kansas. In 1881, Chickasha and his brother John traveled to Tulsa to purchase land from their father-in-law, Wm. Hennepin Stroud. They founded the first post office in this territory, which they named after themselves—Chickasha Post Office (now known as Jenks). During World War I and World War II, Chickasha served as a military station with personnel drawn from both countries; during those years it also hosted several airfields used by USAAF pilots training for war against Japan and Germany. After the war ended, most of the Japanese citizens who had lived here left or were expelled following racial tension that developed among American Japanese residents working on post-war farms near Tulsa and Jenks during Reconstruction; however, some white residents kept living here until about 1960 when all commercial buildings were removed from the town limits by local ordinance due to fears that they would be replaced by black businesses if red infrastructure continued existing within city limits
